    XP-410 Good Home Printer/Scanner

    • Written by from Harrison Township

I set up my new XP-410 3 days ago and started using the scanner features today. I'm replacing an Epson Photo Stylus 750 and a Cannon scanner. The scanner is not compatible with Maverick on my new iMac and it just made more sense to get this Small-in-One printer rather than a scanner only. That was a good choice.

The XPl-410 makes prints very fast and they are sharp, clear prints. The scan and copy features work great. The scanner can set to a jpeg or pdf file and other options. I needed to go to a store to make copies of a document before getting the XP-410 and iMac. Now my XP-410 print of the same document is higher quality than the local copy service store. The scanning process is many times faster than my older scanner and is very acceptable for home use. I'm loving the XP-410. One side note about downloading the software.

When I set up the XP-410 and downloaded the packaged software, the scanner software did not come with the download as the description said. I had to download the individual scanner driver separately. This provided extra scan options over the Image Capture software with the iMac. I would recommend adding the scanner driver from Epson.

    Quality product for the price.

    • Written by from Orangeburg

I have had my printer for about a week now and have used it a decent amount. Still a lot of things to test out, but setup and printing has been so easy. No complications connecting Mac to printer via wifi. Worked like a charm when I went to print from iPhone and iPad with no additional setup required. It was all ready to print. Very pleased so far.

    Epsom Printer Scanner

Excellent product for any individual that has a need for such a product. Is very beneficial for a person with moderate needs, and ranges in quality for a person who has more exclusive needs for printing pictures etc. . The support person that we dealt with at the Apple store was very knowledgeable and helpful. They spoke very proactively, and were marvelous listeners for what our needs were.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. DON'T BUY IT. DON'T.

    • Written by from North Yarmouth

This printer is awful. I've had it for just a few months and suddenly the black ink just plain doesn't work. I've tried cleaning the nozzle but nothing, just blank strips with a black line every now and then, while all the rest of the colors work fine. It wouldn't be so bad if you could move the print head assembly back and forth to try and unclog the front side of the nozzles by yourself (besides taking the cartridge out and sticking a q-tip in the point which didn't help me), but the thing is stuck in there and you can only "clean" it through troubleshooting. The printer ghost in the machine just wants you to buy more ink, do the "head cleaning" (which is just the printer sucking out tons and tons of ink which all gets smeared into the collecting sponge anyway which they don't allow you to clean by hand the way other printers would), run out of ink that way, and ultimately buy more ink. This is not a printer. It's a scam machine; its sole purpose is to get you to buy more ink and another printer and tear your hair out researching how to unclog nozzles manually, only to find this "newer, more efficient model" doesn't let you do that. Wish I had registered the thing when I bought it so I could get a replacement (and then another replacement, and another, and another), but rather, what I truly need is a time machine, to go back to when I got the printer and not get it. Then my problem would be solved.

XP-410 needed warranty replacement at 10 months

    • Written by from El Cerrito

After reading several earlier reviews, I have to confirm that the primary function of this printer seems to be to sell Epson ink. It gobbles cartridges up and doesn't do a very good job with photographs (even with 'genuine' Epson ink). It is incredibly S*L*O*W.

The problem with printing black was our problem too. I used the printer utility to check nozzle patterns and cleaned the head several times. The Epson support person suggested that I remove the black cartridge and replace it. That help a little but didn't unclog some of the nozzles. Once Epson confirmed that I had gone thru this procedure, they said it was a hardware problem and, without hesitation, said that a replacement was being shipped directly to my house at no cost. Product registration helped - a lot.

So, in spite of the fact that we had problems, this is a reasonably good, basic printer at an economy price. We have always loved the brilliance and durability of Epson ink.

Epson 410 "Blank Page Printing Machine"

    • Written by from Washington

This printer is awesome and never fails to deliver blank pages. I highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs to print blank pages. Really truly consistent. When I first got it, I must say that it did do something strange, it printed pages in full color which is so annoying.... Im sure now that it must have been operator error. Never the less, before long it started living up to its reputation by printing beautifully clean unblemished by any ink, blank pages. Now it always delivers perfect blank pages. Wow, really a great blank page printing machine. Think ill get one for my office.

    Piece of Junk

    • Written by from Jacksonville

I have had this printer for less than a year and it will no longer print black. I've tried cleaning the cartridge head, replacing the cartridge, and still nothing. From reading other reviews it looks like I'm not the only customer having this problem. I'm surprised that Apple would offer this in their store!

Hate this printer- do not buy

    • Written by from holladay

I bought this printer for school. I had the old HP printer that Apple used to sell for almost 10 yrs before i had to replace it. This printer NEVER WORKS. Every time I use it, my laptop it says the printer is not connected, or can't find it. This has happened EVERY TIME i use it. I regret buying this printer, and wish I had shopped around more.

    No Support Available

    • Written by from Amarillo

After 6 months the printer quit working with all of my devices (PC, Laptop, iPhone, iPad.) The DVD included with the printer will not load on PC or laptop. The drivers that I downloaded from Epson do not work. The printer is useless and a waste of my money. If I could give negative stars I would.

Will not by Epson printer again

    • Written by from Va Beach

I have owned this printer for over a year and and print very. Magenta and Cayen were low and black ink would not print at all so I replaced the M and C and still no black ink printing. Yellow was at 15% so I replaced it and now I get black ink printing but quality is not legible! Waste of time, ink and money. Buyer beware!!

TERRIBLE- waste of money, runs out of ink VERY fast.

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This was an very inexpensive printer- we got it for $69. BUT In less than a MONTH we have had to buy two full sets of replacement cartridges, and the ink jets clog constantly (printing with lines) and every time you clean it, it eats up even more ink. I think we've spent more money on ink than the printer is worth, and we just bought it! Not to mention it keeps loosing the Wifi signal. Never had these issues with our HP. Regret getting an Epson.

Great Printer But Not All Functions Mac-like

    • Written by from Greenville

I recently purchased the XP-410 and have been completely satisfied with the quality of printed documents. The setup was simple and quick. Printing worked flawlessly from the start. However, the printer uses lots of ink and the cost of replacing the simple-to-install cartridges is expensive. Nevertheless, I like the ease and simplicity of the printer. What I don't like is the difficulty presented to this user when I want to use the scan and/or copy features of the XP-410. Immediately, I had to download scan software (which was free!) and install the software. Finally after several attempts I am able to scan and save documents to my desktop. YES!

In the future, I recommend that MAC technicians review Epson hardware and software for the XP-410 before they are sold to the public.

    Ink Selling Junk

    • Written by from Boston

Epson XP410 is here to sell you ink. It tells you you are out of ink before you are, and if it decides you are "low" on any color, you can't print in black. Plus the photo printing quality is awful.

    Confirming this is junk

    • Written by from New York

Yes, this is quite simply junk. A small time elapsed in no printing and now clogged heads, no printing and when it did print, it guzzled ink like a Cadillac Escalade guzzles gas. Pathetic attempt at extorting $ from customers. Lesson learned - HP, Lexmark, Canon - anyone but Epson.

A couple of pages with no problems. Seems to work fine. Later next week
I'll set it up to my Mac via wireless. Will let u know the results. I don't expect
It to be much of a problem do to the fact it was recommended by Apple.

    No black ink

    • Written by from University Place

replaced black ink cartridge with 200XL and a few months later I'm not getting ANY black ink printing, can't print or copy anything at all, just gives me blank pages, despite cleaning headers, checking nozzles, alignment, whatever, you name it. Would like to have this fixed, kind of a waste otherwise.

    I Think I Have A Problem...

    • Written by from Lexington

My Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One Printer seems to have some issues. I did notice a serious clogging issue, as has been mentioned. It was problematic, but I soaked the printer heads in some paint thinner and that cleared up. I started have some feeder issues, as pages seemed to eject with some force. These are all problems I'm familiar with. However, it started doing something I've not seen before. First it spit out a page that I do not remember printing. It was some sort of elaborate geometric shape, circular in nature, but with lots of intersecting lines. There appeared to be characters around and in it that I couldn't identify. I puzzled over it for a moment and tosssed it in the bin. However, not an hour later I found another page on the floor. I'd heard it printing from the dining room, ran in and there was the pattern. I again threw it away. I was indisposed and heard another page print. I sprinted in, and it sat on the floor in the middle of my office. I left it laying there and waited. Another page printed out, this one covered in words in some language I couldn't identify. It shot out of the feeder tray, and landed next to the graphic that spat out first. Then another page of text, and another. Which each page, the lights in the room seemed to dim, the smell of sulphur seemed to grow, and I was overcome with a sense of dread. Well, my mother raised no fools, so I immediately hopped on here to write this complaint. Even know I can hear what I can only describe as a rising cacophony. I do not know what is coming through, but if this is what I can expect from Epson then I will j

    Great Set-up

    • Written by from North las vegas

I was very pleased with the ease of set-up of this printer and how informative the guide was and the online walkthrough. everything works as it should and very quick. I am very happy I chose this printer! The only problem I have with the set-up is that when I try to print from my Iphone it keeps telling me printer offline, but the printer is printing from my computer fine. I don't know how to check on this status.
