Junk! Just plain Junk! Don't buy!

    • Written by from Powell

Communication errors all the time. Must clean print heads weekly or print quality is poor. Ink tanks don't last long. Many features listed don't work. (Just a Mac issue?) Plastic faceplate is cheap and noisy when touched. Worst Epson printer I've ever owned. Scanner, again, communication errors. Sometimes turning it off an on will work for next print/scan then it stops working again. No update fixes at Epson to fix issue. Never could get it to print from my iPhone or printing from it email address (what a joke) I wish my 10 year old Epson Photo Printer was still supported. It was much better than what EPSON offers now!.

I bought this printer back in August of 2014 and since then I've been between Epson and Apple (blaming each other) to try to get it working properly. First Epson told me it was the AirPort Extreme causing interference and have to replace it for another Wifi router, so I tried Lynksys, didn't work either. Then I tried printing directly from iOS devices, worked initially and then the printer wouldn't continue printing, stop and stall. Epson states it's a "automatic over the air printing form Mac OS X or iOS devices" NOT THE CASE. This printer will not print at all. I've tried absolutely everything. I have given up and I will never buy an Epson product again.

THE SINGLE WORST PRINTER EVER. DO NOT PURCHASE. As others have said, the heads are hopelessly clogged, you have to clean about 20 times to get a single page printed properly, and you run out of ink in the process. I put it in the trash today.

    Don't like

Actually we don't like the Epson printer. It takes too many steps to use it, and we just don't care for it. Our HP just has to be turned on and push print. Much better.

Worst Printer on the Planet...Run Away!!!

    • Written by from Woodbridge

This is the worst printer I have ever owned. I bought it when I bought my first Macbook. I was only (erroneously) concerned about buying a compatible printer, so I didn't bother to research printers. I got this one because it was recommended by Apple Store and by a sales associate at an Apple retail store. Worst. Mistake. Ever.

I've had it two years and 80% of the time it does not print correctly. Blank pages, paper jams, poor print quality, etc. I have spent more time trouble shooting than I have spent printing. It has caused my son to submit homework late multiple times, and has prevented me from printing important legal documents in a timely manner. It is completely unreliable. I never know when it is going to work or malfunction. In the last three months I have spend more in ink cartridges than I spent on the printer itself.

Do your research and don't waste your time on this product. I have cast a wide net among friends and professionals on preferred printers. NO ONE I know has recommended an Epson.

    Piece of excriment!!!!!!!

It wouldn't even make a good boat anchor. It does print beautiful plain white pages though. New cartridges, nozzles checked, head cleaning performed, print head aligned and finally, new HP printer installed. Problem solved!

Easy set up and working fine for now.

    • Written by from Hollywood

After reading some of the reviews on this site I was a little concerned but I have to say that set up was very easy and the print quality is what you would expect. After initial setup the printer showed up on all of our devices without any issues and everyone is printing wirelessly with no problems. I gave it four stars because it is a little slow and loud.

I'll update if any of the problems that others have encountered come up.

Falls of network CONSTANTLY 'No air printer found'

    • Written by from Sacramento

    * Size and Lightweight
    * Print quality looks good.

    * "NO AIR PRINTER FOUND" despite the display on the printer showing a strong connection to Wi-Fi. The printer needs to be reconnected to the router/network at least once per day. Not huge issue except for convenience. If the router is located in an inaccessible room (housemate's bedroom for example) you cannot print unless you go through the entire process again of "push-button" set up with router.
    * had to contact tech support and speak with someone who had such a thick accent I struggled to understand their instructions for resolving the issue. Then was escalated to his superior, who was easier to understand but still ultimately couldn't help fix the problem (Despite being walked through intricate steps to download Epson software - which also did not resolve the issue.)

I would not recommend this printer. Haven't had it long enough to know how long the ink cartridges last.
Am returning it and going back to Canon Pixma which STAYED connected to the network (although it's a larger printer, at least I can print anytime I need to, hassle-free.) AND their Tech Support is ALL US Based - another BIG BIG plus.

Pairs Nicely with my Wireless MacBook Pro

    • Written by from Lynn

Great performer, low profile fits nicely on my desk, very good value for the money. As my first Epson printer, it has left my former HP printer in the dust. The Epson XP-410 is easy to use, dependable, and has very good print quality. Would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

    Piece of garbage

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I bought this printer along with my new laptop because I figured it would be reliable if recommended by Apple. I printed a total of 50 pages before it ran out of ink. All of the ink cartridges ran out even though I was only printing text in black and white. I replaced them all for no small fee and then the black was hopelessly clogged. I must have cleaned the print head 20 times before I began to see some ink on paper again, but by that time, my brand new suite of ink cartridges were empty again. When I eventually bought more cartridges, I managed to print 20 pages before I had to replace the ink and when I did, it was too clogged to print again. Now it prints flawless blank pages every time. This printer is a blackhole of time and money and I am looking forward to seeing how well it performs out on the shooting range. Apple should not align themselves with this scam of a product because it reflects very poorly on them as a company to do so.

Don't. Buy. This. Printer. Seriously, don't.

    • Written by from Jefferson

This printer is INTENTIONALLY engineered to stop working the second ONE of the four colors runs out. So yeah, it's 7am, you're late for work, you need to print a two page black and white letter so you can sign it and drop it in the mail, but noooooo.... YOU can't! Why? Why because you are out of magenta. Don't need magenta, right? Too bad. It's out, and you can't print ANYTHING until you replace it. It literally shuts down. (Yes, I selected grayscale on the computer before I sent the job. It doesn't matter. It won't print. It's out of magenta.)

Now, assume you buy a case of each color so supply isn't an issue, here's two more: 1) It falls off the wifi horse often and has to be turned off and back on before it will print. 2) Alignment is a nightmare. Printing is off-focus and streaked ever other day requiring a twenty minute alignment process.

These should be recalled. Not deserving of one star.

I've been trying for over an hour to set this printer up with my new Mac, trying all methods suggested, but apparently software won't download for some reason. This printer was on Apple site, so thought it would compatible and easy to get going. That's not been the case so far-very frustrating! Going to try & contact Epson later today.

    I'm one of those people

    • Written by from Edmonton

When the whole wireless printing thing was first mentioned I said I might never be one of those people. It seemed way too hightech. But I took the printer home and set it up in less than ten minutes on my wifi with my iMac and to my surprise it later showed as a print option on my iPhone in the bedroom and from my iPad in the kitchen. So now I'm one of those people and I can't believe how easy it was!

Works great wired but is so slow as a wireless printer the jobs typically timeout and fail before completion - print and scan.

    My new printer

    • Written by from Allison Park

We really like the printer except for one thing. Every time we print from my iPad to the epson printer, it sends two pages from the machine - the first one is blank and the second page is whatever I needed to print. But the printer is clear and and quick!
