    Piece of garbage

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I bought this printer along with my new laptop because I figured it would be reliable if recommended by Apple. I printed a total of 50 pages before it ran out of ink. All of the ink cartridges ran out even though I was only printing text in black and white. I replaced them all for no small fee and then the black was hopelessly clogged. I must have cleaned the print head 20 times before I began to see some ink on paper again, but by that time, my brand new suite of ink cartridges were empty again. When I eventually bought more cartridges, I managed to print 20 pages before I had to replace the ink and when I did, it was too clogged to print again. Now it prints flawless blank pages every time. This printer is a blackhole of time and money and I am looking forward to seeing how well it performs out on the shooting range. Apple should not align themselves with this scam of a product because it reflects very poorly on them as a company to do so.

Don't. Buy. This. Printer. Seriously, don't.

    • Written by from Jefferson

This printer is INTENTIONALLY engineered to stop working the second ONE of the four colors runs out. So yeah, it's 7am, you're late for work, you need to print a two page black and white letter so you can sign it and drop it in the mail, but noooooo.... YOU can't! Why? Why because you are out of magenta. Don't need magenta, right? Too bad. It's out, and you can't print ANYTHING until you replace it. It literally shuts down. (Yes, I selected grayscale on the computer before I sent the job. It doesn't matter. It won't print. It's out of magenta.)

Now, assume you buy a case of each color so supply isn't an issue, here's two more: 1) It falls off the wifi horse often and has to be turned off and back on before it will print. 2) Alignment is a nightmare. Printing is off-focus and streaked ever other day requiring a twenty minute alignment process.

These should be recalled. Not deserving of one star.

    Unable to use

I've been trying for over an hour to set this printer up with my new Mac, trying all methods suggested, but apparently software won't download for some reason. This printer was on Apple site, so thought it would compatible and easy to get going. That's not been the case so far-very frustrating! Going to try & contact Epson later today.

    I'm one of those people

    • Written by from Edmonton

When the whole wireless printing thing was first mentioned I said I might never be one of those people. It seemed way too hightech. But I took the printer home and set it up in less than ten minutes on my wifi with my iMac and to my surprise it later showed as a print option on my iPhone in the bedroom and from my iPad in the kitchen. So now I'm one of those people and I can't believe how easy it was!

    Poor wireless printer

    • Written by from Huntington

Works great wired but is so slow as a wireless printer the jobs typically timeout and fail before completion - print and scan.

    My new printer

We really like the printer except for one thing. Every time we print from my iPad to the epson printer, it sends two pages from the machine - the first one is blank and the second page is whatever I needed to print. But the printer is clear and and quick!

Getting started on the Epson XP=510

    • Written by from Dorking

Since purchasing the printer in the Apple Store two weeks ago i have not been able to get the scanner connected wireless to my Mac Pro.
I had great difficulty in downloading the CD and the printer worked but it would not scan.
After the first visit to the Apple Store i was able to print wireless but it would not scan. After a visit today to the Apple Store when the CD was downloaded again i now cannot print or scan and the printer icon has disappeared.

    XP-410 Good Home Printer/Scanner

    • Written by from Harrison Township

I set up my new XP-410 3 days ago and started using the scanner features today. I'm replacing an Epson Photo Stylus 750 and a Cannon scanner. The scanner is not compatible with Maverick on my new iMac and it just made more sense to get this Small-in-One printer rather than a scanner only. That was a good choice.

The XPl-410 makes prints very fast and they are sharp, clear prints. The scan and copy features work great. The scanner can set to a jpeg or pdf file and other options. I needed to go to a store to make copies of a document before getting the XP-410 and iMac. Now my XP-410 print of the same document is higher quality than the local copy service store. The scanning process is many times faster than my older scanner and is very acceptable for home use. I'm loving the XP-410. One side note about downloading the software.

When I set up the XP-410 and downloaded the packaged software, the scanner software did not come with the download as the description said. I had to download the individual scanner driver separately. This provided extra scan options over the Image Capture software with the iMac. I would recommend adding the scanner driver from Epson.

    Quality product for the price.

    • Written by from Orangeburg

I have had my printer for about a week now and have used it a decent amount. Still a lot of things to test out, but setup and printing has been so easy. No complications connecting Mac to printer via wifi. Worked like a charm when I went to print from iPhone and iPad with no additional setup required. It was all ready to print. Very pleased so far.

    Epsom Printer Scanner

Excellent product for any individual that has a need for such a product. Is very beneficial for a person with moderate needs, and ranges in quality for a person who has more exclusive needs for printing pictures etc. . The support person that we dealt with at the Apple store was very knowledgeable and helpful. They spoke very proactively, and were marvelous listeners for what our needs were.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. DON'T BUY IT. DON'T.

    • Written by from North Yarmouth

This printer is awful. I've had it for just a few months and suddenly the black ink just plain doesn't work. I've tried cleaning the nozzle but nothing, just blank strips with a black line every now and then, while all the rest of the colors work fine. It wouldn't be so bad if you could move the print head assembly back and forth to try and unclog the front side of the nozzles by yourself (besides taking the cartridge out and sticking a q-tip in the point which didn't help me), but the thing is stuck in there and you can only "clean" it through troubleshooting. The printer ghost in the machine just wants you to buy more ink, do the "head cleaning" (which is just the printer sucking out tons and tons of ink which all gets smeared into the collecting sponge anyway which they don't allow you to clean by hand the way other printers would), run out of ink that way, and ultimately buy more ink. This is not a printer. It's a scam machine; its sole purpose is to get you to buy more ink and another printer and tear your hair out researching how to unclog nozzles manually, only to find this "newer, more efficient model" doesn't let you do that. Wish I had registered the thing when I bought it so I could get a replacement (and then another replacement, and another, and another), but rather, what I truly need is a time machine, to go back to when I got the printer and not get it. Then my problem would be solved.

XP-410 needed warranty replacement at 10 months

    • Written by from El Cerrito

After reading several earlier reviews, I have to confirm that the primary function of this printer seems to be to sell Epson ink. It gobbles cartridges up and doesn't do a very good job with photographs (even with 'genuine' Epson ink). It is incredibly S*L*O*W.

The problem with printing black was our problem too. I used the printer utility to check nozzle patterns and cleaned the head several times. The Epson support person suggested that I remove the black cartridge and replace it. That help a little but didn't unclog some of the nozzles. Once Epson confirmed that I had gone thru this procedure, they said it was a hardware problem and, without hesitation, said that a replacement was being shipped directly to my house at no cost. Product registration helped - a lot.

So, in spite of the fact that we had problems, this is a reasonably good, basic printer at an economy price. We have always loved the brilliance and durability of Epson ink.

Epson 410 "Blank Page Printing Machine"

    • Written by from Washington

This printer is awesome and never fails to deliver blank pages. I highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs to print blank pages. Really truly consistent. When I first got it, I must say that it did do something strange, it printed pages in full color which is so annoying.... Im sure now that it must have been operator error. Never the less, before long it started living up to its reputation by printing beautifully clean unblemished by any ink, blank pages. Now it always delivers perfect blank pages. Wow, really a great blank page printing machine. Think ill get one for my office.

I have had this printer for less than a year and it will no longer print black. I've tried cleaning the cartridge head, replacing the cartridge, and still nothing. From reading other reviews it looks like I'm not the only customer having this problem. I'm surprised that Apple would offer this in their store!

Hate this printer- do not buy

    • Written by from holladay

I bought this printer for school. I had the old HP printer that Apple used to sell for almost 10 yrs before i had to replace it. This printer NEVER WORKS. Every time I use it, my laptop it says the printer is not connected, or can't find it. This has happened EVERY TIME i use it. I regret buying this printer, and wish I had shopped around more.
