    Terrible printer

    • Written by from MONTREAL

Don't bother with this printer. I bought it for its wireless capabilities but the bad far outweighs the good. I don't print often and when I do my cartridges have dried up which results in a mostly blank page. If I do manage to get a semi-decent print out it's only because of numerous head cleaning which empty the cartridges fairly quickly. Also replacing the cartridges will cost you almost the same as the price of the printer itself.

Save yourself a lot of frustration and buy something else.

    Consistently Undependable

    • Written by from Louisville

Like most people writing reviews, I purchased this printer because it was recommended by Apple and I used an Apple Store rebate thing that came with my Macbook Pro.

Not only did I waste money I could have spent on better products, I wasted additional money replacing ink cartridges (FREQUENTLY) and on the countless times I've had to run to a printshop to print something.

    It's not all terrible:
-I found that the wifi setup was easy and smooth on two different wireless networks.
-The printer is lightweight and easy to move.

    Most of it is terrible:
-My AC plug doesn't stay in the printer well. If the cord gets bumped at all, the plug loosens and it doesn't get power. I regularly have to get back there and jossle it into place.
-Either Epson ink cartridges are incredibly low level (and thus overpriced) or this printer is incredibly inefficient - either way, I have spent way too much on ink for how little I've successfully printer (more on that later). Recycled and off-brand replacement cartridges don't seem to work.
-Poor print quality. Very poor. Consistently. Just don't expect to print photos or a cool flyer or something. The ink looks like it's set to economy mode all the time - and that's on a good day.
-Clogged head/nozzles. I don't know the terminology. All I know is that my documents often look streaky, with horizontal blocks across the page that print lighter than other blocks, and some that print slightly enlarged. I can't print anything that I want to turn in and sometimes it's even hard to read printed articles.
-Can't clean once head/nozzles are clogged. The poor printing got so bad that only about half of each page printed - it looked like stripes of a document. I have run the "clean head" function about 10 times, which depleted my ink cartridges. When I replaced them, the head still wasn't clean enough! There was definitely more being printed on each page, but there is still enough missing that the article I just printed is worthless.
-Prints very slowly. This wasn't true at first but by the 10th time I used this printer, it was average literally two-four minutes per page for just a written document.

I'm throwing this out today, and never buying anything upon recommendation from Apple. I'm disappointed at this is was clearly a business deal between Epson and Apple and has nothing to do with the quality of the printer, because it is for all intent and purposes - junk. Easy wifi setup means nothing if it can't print.

    What a bummer.

    It couldn't be worse

    • Written by from Sausalito

This is by far the worst printing product I've ever purchased. Worse than the $100 wasted is the enormous amount of time trying to make this piece of @#$% work. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Faint printing soon after purchase now nothing prints no matter how many times I clean the print heads and do what Epson says will fix it. Blecch!

I wish I could give it a negative rating.

    Great Product

    • Written by from Stratford

I'm really not sure why this printer is getting so many bad reviews. I am a university student who has to print off countless notes and papers and the printer got me through the entire semester without running out of ink. My black cartridge finally says it's running low but I would definitely say it has been worth my money.

I wish that I had read the reviews first, before purchasing this printer. I should have spent the extra $100.00 and bought another HP. I am also disappointed with the Apple Representative for suggesting this printer. Not worth it!

    Wifi unreliable

I wish I had read these reviews before my purchase, complete junk. I pretty much have to re-enter the wifi password each time I need to print anything.

    great simple printer

I recommend this if you don't want or need high quality photos or auto duplexing. If so, spend the extra $50 and get the XP-620. Both are reliable, quick and easy to set up. I also like that it uses individual cartridges instead of combines ones like HP does.

Great but no 2-sided printing support on OS X.

    • Written by from syracuse

So far I like the printer, setup should be easy enough for anyone who can read english. It connected to my router, mac, android phone and other devices super easy and I was able to print out all of my important document. I noticed it does seem to have a serious lack of 2-sided printing support for my mac and that is a huge problem. I thought I read all the fine print on the box, not sure if I missed anything stating this. I hope it is just firmware related and that epson will work on it. I bought this printer purely for B&W document printing and the quality so far has been just fine for me.

    set up of printer

I found it difficult to set up this product it took too long to download the program and it was not clear on the screen were to initiate the installation. For us who are not heavy into computers we need things to be clear that is why I operate with an Apple.

Never again. Not only does it eat up ink like there is no tomorrow, but now it is leaving blank lines in the page. Too bad there is no ZERO STARS setting.

    DO NOTTT BUY THIS PRINTER!

    • Written by from Toronto

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! it goes through ink wayyy too fast. I'm a student and I hardly use my printer, with the exception of printing a few Word documents which is not on a regular basis. Somehow, ink just disappears without warning. I'm wasting so much money on constantly buying ink cartridges it's ridiculous. Another point about this printer is the fact that in order to use it's other features, you need to have at least one full cartridge of ink installed. For example, I wanted to use the scanner the other day but couldn't because I didn't have any ink. So I had to out and buy some ink to use the scanner (when you don't even need ink to scan). I would NEVER buy this product again, nor would I ever recommend it. I actually hate it with a passion. If I could've rated 0 stars I would've. Big rip off!!

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER

    • Written by from Los Angeles

this is the worst product I've purchased in my life. Never ever ever ever will I buy an epson again and I will also research who actually makes this worthless product to determine what other technology brands slap their label on that makers output so as to avoid wasting my time and money again. This item should not be in the Apple Store and enjoy association with the brand. It's hard to adequately express my contempt for this product.

Do not purchase this piece of plastic. It consistently fails to connect wirelessly. I have wasted money, ink and hours trying to get this thing to connect. I'm very disappointed in Epson, as my previous Epson printers have been outstanding.

This is the worst printer I have ever had! I didn't use it much and it broke after a little over a year. Won't print or copy. Told me I needed new ink. Spent $38 on ink replacement to NO avail! Epsom CS can't help. This is a waste of time and money.

    • Written by from Gaithersburg

Can't even get this printer to print hardwired- never mind wireless. Somehow, I did get it to print wirelessly to my iphone, but if I'm on my computer, no luck. It printed from my computer for about 1 day, and that was it. I've tried everything. I just think it is a poor quality printer. Wish I had invested a little more money for something nicer. The only reason I gave it one star is because I can print from my iphone.

    Don't buy!!! Total junk!!!

    • Written by from Memphis

I wish to God I would have read reviews before purchasing this printer. Apple is really damaging their reputation and my trust in their endorsement by carrying this printer. It's a joke. Prints at an abysmal pace, and I was going to try to live with that but it is utterly unable to scan as it loses connection with the network and has to start over before it can ever complete the job. I've had it for 15 days, so now I can't return it, I"m out $100 and I'm driving to Kinko's to scan my documents--I've been trying for a day and a half to scan one document, my wi-fi signal is beyond strong, and this piece of plastic just can't get it done. So. Mad.

Junk! Just plain Junk! Don't buy!

    • Written by from Powell

Communication errors all the time. Must clean print heads weekly or print quality is poor. Ink tanks don't last long. Many features listed don't work. (Just a Mac issue?) Plastic faceplate is cheap and noisy when touched. Worst Epson printer I've ever owned. Scanner, again, communication errors. Sometimes turning it off an on will work for next print/scan then it stops working again. No update fixes at Epson to fix issue. Never could get it to print from my iPhone or printing from it email address (what a joke) I wish my 10 year old Epson Photo Printer was still supported. It was much better than what EPSON offers now!.
