    Worked Great for a Bit

    • Written by from Greensboro

For about a year I was raving to all of my friends about this speaker. It filled my 2-story town home with music. Then suddenly, it would not play my iPod classic. It played the music perfectly fine, but the singing was incredibly inaudible. I thought maybe it was the iPod. But I hooked the iPod up to headphones, my car and another speaker, all worked fine. Hooked the speaker up to my computer, worked fine. It just all of a sudden will not play my iPod which is the entire reason I bought this speaker. In the market for something better!

    More electronics for the landfill

    • Written by from VANCOUVER

I bought one about 18months ago thinking it was of good quality. It worked fine for about 1 year then I stopped using it for a few months. When I went to reuse it, it would not recharge. Into the landfill.

    Short - term brilliance

    • Written by from chch

These speakers sound great and are easy to use as all of the reviews suggest, however unfortunately my experience with them is not so favorable. In short, they worked brilliantly for about half an hour and are now merely frustrating paperweights.

I bought the JBL speakers at a duty free on my way out of Lyon, they were great the first time I used them as I have a Macbook air which has terrible speakers they were a good way of getting decent sound when watching movies. However the next morning I was playing some music through my phone and they began to turn off and on and eventually died completely. I thought it was the battery even though the charge meter said that it was full... I proceeded to charge them for the next 24 hours with no success... they are dead. After one day.

The manual is terrible, there is very little support offered through JBL as well, even though their email says they will respond within one day they haven't after a week. I dont think there is any kind of reset or restart function anywhere, so there is very little you can do if this happens to you.

All in all very frustrating, so beware.. they are great but if something goes wrong you are out of luck. Unfortunately I am not confident of returning them as being from NZ I won't be going through Lyon airport anytime soon.

Great for Iphone but won't pair with Ipad

    • Written by

the sound is incredible... and pairing on Iphone was easy. However, I cannot get it to pair with Ipad. I've turned off bluetooth on Iphone and turned off Iphone. I've reset bluetooth on Ipad and shut down Ipad and tried absolutely everything. But when I turn on bluetooth in Ipad and turn on the JBL Flip speaker... they're both just searching and searching and never find one another.

I'm going to return this to Amazon tomorrow and try something else. Too bad, because the sound is great.

    Horrible sound

    • Written by from Sonoma

I bought this to replace my Logitech speakers. Big mistake. The base on it is non existent and it sounds horrible for a "room filling" sound. I would say its good as a desk speaker and that's about it. I love my Logitech and will stick with the same speaker just the new Bluetooth version. This JBL is not great. If you want good base and good loud sound you may need to go with a more expensive speaker from them.

Seriously NOT happy with this product!

    • Written by from Moose Jaw

My husband bought me the JBL Flip speaker for Christmas and right up to just last week I loved it! Absolutely no problems, great sound, etc. But on Monday, March 18, 2013 it decided to quit working with my iPad after about 1 1/2 minutes of play time. At first I thought it was just the Bluetooth connection so I disconnected the Bluetooth and tethered it to the iPad with a belkin cable. It did the exact same thing over and over again with the Bluetooth connected or not! We sent an email to JBL asking for help and their so called experts told us that we had to turn up the volume on the iPad and only control the sound by the FLIP! Seriously! Even though we knew that this was probably untrue we tried it and of course we were right it was and it didn't work! I know this is not an Apple product but we did buy it from the Apple store and it kind of makes me lose faith in your external product endorsements! I am not sure what to do next?? Can somebody help me out?? Any ideas??

    It's lousy. don't buy it.

    • Written by from Halifax

Sounds great for about the first hour then scratchy then refuses to join the network it worked on yesterday. Website support is useless. I'd return this product but it's too much trouble to figure it out on the website. I will never buy a JBL product again. Thought I could trust Apple to retail good products, but they're about as trustworthy as Walmart.

    Bluetooth cuts off...

    • Written by from La Junta

I've had this product about a month and while it seem to work okay at first, now the Bluetooth connection continually cuts off after about a minute or two. I'm sure this is a problem of the JBL Flip speaker because 1) my other speakers work well with connected to the same phone, and 2) other reviewers have mentioned the same problem. Too bad because like other reviewers I am impressed by the sound quality.

Didn't work with my iPad mini...

    • Written by from Port Moody

Got it for Christmas. It worked fine with my iPod. Great sound. But it did not work with my iPad mini. So I went back to the Apple Store. I've tried with a different package. It was same. iPad mini didn't recognize JBL Flip. So I had to return it. Too bad... BTW, at the Apple Store, the person who was helping me tried to connect her iPad with JBL Flip. It didn't work either.

    Problems with JBL Flip

    • Written by from Matthews

The Bluetooth would only synch with iPod5 and not accept iPad 2nd generation nor the iPhone 4. The other problem was songs and audiobooks would skip while playing even when the Flip was less than 10 ft away from from the iPod. There is a video review on Youtube made recently that shows the skip problem. I am returning this product and contacting JBL about the problems.

    Seriously weak bluetooth connection??

    • Written by from Calgary

Just bought a JBL Flip. Absolutely LOVE the sound. BEST of all mobile speakers we've tried and a steal at $99! But the bluetooth connection is seriously weak (useless)! Anyone else has problem their Flip's bluetooth connection? A wall or a thin door will cause the Flip some dropouts in data causing skips in audio! The crazy thing is if I put my body in between my phone and the JBL Flip, it causes drop out already!!! In contrast, a first gen Logitech mini boombox doesn't sound as good as the Flip, but it has no problem sending signals pass 2-3 walls perfectly! Does anyone else have problem with their Flip's bluetooth connection? I am hoping I just have a defective unit but I don't know ...
