Absolutely you can!

As long as your iTunes Music folder is on the Time Capsule, and you've told each of your iTunes libraries where the folder is, then you're ready to rock! Your Apple TVs will access the library files on your iMacs without knowing any different.

Yes...

Using airport utility...

1. Select Manual Setup at the opening screen.
2. Select Internet (icon at the top of the window) and Internet Connection tab
3. Connect Using - select Ethernet
4. Connect Sharing - select Off (Bridge Mode)

This will turn off DHCP and use the networks DHCP server to allocate you an IP address automatically.

I'm using my Belkin modem/router as my DHCP server so I've set up my AE in just this manner. Simply plug an ethernet cable into the WAN socket and into the network socket in the room...

There is very little different in having your Netgear continue to be your wireless access point and having the Time Capsule take that on unless your Netgear doesn't support current protocols and is slow. In any case all you'd need to do is turn off your wireless on your Netgear in the Admin settings and turn on the wireless on the Airport Extreme. If you don't know how to access the management interface for your Netgear router I'd recommend just connecting your Airport to your Netgear's ethernet ports and calling it even on the configuration.

No, The USB Port only supports sharing USB Hard Drives and USB Printers, not USB Modems. You can purchase 3G routers from various retailers that may support what you want to do.

Yes, you can connect multiple Time Capsules to the same network. If you will use Time Machine, you can't use both for backing up the same Mac, as you must choose one or the other.

It depends on if you are wanting it to backup your CD's or replace them.

1. To backup CD's is not what it is made for, but it can backup CD's imported into iTunes.
2. To replace them and 'stream' music from it then Apple TV is needed, but again this is not what Time Capsule is made for.

To put music on it 'rip' (import) the files to your computer using iTunes. You can then do one of 3 things:
1. Backup your machine using any backup software selecting the Time Capsule as the destination and the iTunes folder as the source
2. Use Time Machine to backup your Mac to the Time Capsule
3. Go into iTunes and put the root folder (Preferences / Advanced) onto the Time Capsule (note: to play any music on your computer you must be connected to the Time Capsule).

Here is my setup:
Apple TV (1st gen) connected wirelessly to the TimeCapsule with my iTunes root folder on the TimeCapsule. When I open iTunes (on my Mac, although it could be on a PC) it syncs my media to the Apple TV. I can then play anything on the Apple TV and it streams around my house using 2 Airport Express boxes with speakers attached. I then use iDrive to backup everything online.

An external hard drive is usually connected to your Mac by either a Firewire or USB cable. This means that it can only be connected to one machine at a time, although the transfer rate is very good, so it will respond as quickly as your internal drive or possibly even faster.

A Time Capsule on the other hand is effectively a wireless router, with a built in hard drive. The hard drive acts like a network storage drive - so it is available to all of your computers on the network at any time, and because it's wireless there are no messy cables to plug in and it can be located anywhere. The downside is that because data is transferred wirelessly, if you have large amounts of data that you need to access very quickly, it will respond slower than an external drive connected directly.

I have around 10,000 photos in my iPhoto library that I access across the network. It works well, although there is a noticeable lag in performance, which an external hard drive would help overcome.

No problem. I have extended the range using an Airport Express. This is a great option as it allow me to do 3 things as a consequence:-

1. I can use the the Ethernet port on the airport express to connect up a printer away from all of my other equipment.
2. I can use the audio in to connect iTunes a a set of remove speakers (I use a stereo CD radio with a line in connection)
3. It extends the Range of the Wifi removing any weak spots in my 3 floor house.
