can the track pad attach to a wireless keyboard

Best AnswerAt the risk of sounding sarcastic and as though I am making a joke: Try Duct Tape.
The MagicWand is about $30 and if you are not certain about how comfortable the configuration of one solid unit would be and want to try it out but want it more stable than just having them side by side, just use a piece of duct tape to hold them together.
The reason I suggest this is that having them right next to each other is not necessarily going to turn out to be the most comfortable configuration. So try it with some tape for a while to make sure its for you and if it is, then get the MagicWand to make it more "permanent".- Answered by Eric K from New Castle

Does the Magic Trackpad work with multiple monitors?
With a mouse, I have to drag the mouse around to get to the second monitor. I would imagine that the whole trackpad would map to the size of both screens, but would this cause it to be a little harder to control? Or less precise?
- Asked by Vincent A from Johnston

- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYes. I have a 24" iMac and a 30" Cinema display and using the Magic Trackpad I can easily navigate across both monitors.

Does this work like the screen of an IPAD?
- Asked by Albert M from Marlton
- 27-Jul-2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerYes and no.
Yes. It works like the screen of an iPad in that it is multitouch and recognizes such gestures.
However, no. The trackpad will not register spatial changes in your fingers location like it would on an iPad. The trackpad tracks motion but to track motion it requires constant contact. If you lift your finger, the onscreen cursor will wait for your finger to return to the trackpad. Once it does return, it will accept that location as the basis for continued movement much like repositioning a mouse when you run out of room to move the cursor in one direction.- Answered by Andrew T from Jordan

Is there one-touch access to spaces/windows like the Mighty Mouse could with the side and center push capability?
I currently am still with my Mighty Mouse. I very often use the side buttons and center-push option to access all of my windows and spaces quickly while doing data transfer/processing. Is there a way to program this quick access to windows and spaces into the trackpad, aside from using the active screen corners? I think that is the only thing I'll miss about my mouse.
- Asked by Jessica O from Sterling

Best AnswerThe Magic Trackpad uses the same multitouch gestures as the trackpads built into all MacBooks. While there is no way to activate Spaces via it, dragging four fingers downwards will active Exposé for all windows within the current space.

What is the range of the Magic Trackpad?
I want to use the trackpad 30 feet away from my laptop (for when my laptop is plugged into a projector in the corner of the room). Will it respond quickly? My bluetooth mouse barely responds at that range.

Best AnswerI've tested it from a distance of 30 feet/10 metres and with two thick walls in between and the response seems as good as placing it next to the computer.

Will the Magic Trackpad work with VMware Fusion and Windows 7 64bit. What functionality works and doesn't work with this combination?

Best AnswerI have a copy of Windows XP Pro installed through VirtualBox and the only feature I can see that works off multi-touch is the two-finger drag and being able to click with one finger and drag with another. The rest of the gestures are only supported on Mac systems because the software implements it.

What's this like for use on the arm of a sofa or cushion?
Especially when clicking/dragging/swiping/etc? Normally I use the one on the Macbook, but I sometimes plug the MacBook Pro into the TV and use a mouse/keyboard on my knee/leg/sofa! This Magic Trackpad might be far better, and at least I'd be able to swipe between spaces easier than my current middle mouse button to Mission Control shortcut. But equally it's quite expensive and it's not my normal usage scenario so I want to be very sure it'll click fine and really work nicely as I can't justify it if it's not that much better than my £5 mouse!

Best AnswerI've found the Magic Trackpad great for using my iMac from bed but the clicking is part of the 2 front feet. So unless the trackpad is resting on something firm you can't click it (unless you press those buttons yourself). I didn't find this a problem since I use tapping anyway but if you want clicking, it can't do it.

Click on scroll button?
I usually use the scroll as a button, pressing it on web browsers to open a link in a new tab. How can I do the same with Magic trackpad?
- Asked by Margarita S from Bogota
- 18-Sep-2010

Best AnswerI saw another answer instruct to "right-click" on the link, then select "Open Window in New Tab link on the text menu that appears.
Although this works, I have also found that pressing the Command key, along with a single click on the trackpad -- this works as well. This also cuts down on the number of clicks the user would have to make.- Answered by Kyle C from Sylacauga

Best Answer
No - the trackpad operates by using Bluetooth (used for devices like mobile phones, keyboards and mice operating over a small range), not WiFi (used for wireless internet connections). If the trackpad had WiFi it would likely be much more difficult to set up and work less reliably.

Best AnswerYES, it does work with Tiger. I'm using it right now. It just doesn't work WELL. None of the touch features work - you have you use it as a regular mouse. And so far I've found scrolling to be a ver frustrating task.
