i need a replacement apple tv remote
i have an apple tv that i have lost the remote to and i need a replacement where can i get one?
- Asked by Amy D from Reynoldsburg

Best Answer
The best place to get one is at the Apple Store. You can also get one from amazon.com for the same price, but combined with shipping it will cost more and you'll have to wait. If you haven't been to a Apple Store, get on Google Maps and search for the nearest one. Besides being a store, it's also a fun place to be.
P.S. The current Apple Remote will work with the 1st and 2nd generation Apple TVs.- Answered by Kathryn H from Reidsville

Best Answer
Yes, the remote can be used to control PowerPoint but it's important to know which version of PowerPoint you're using. The remote can not control PowerPoint 2004. I know the remote will control either PowerPoint 2008 or PowerPoint 2011.

How to stop remote from pairing with computer? I have an apple tv remote in same room as my computer, and it works both at same time.
When I use the remote for my apple TV it also engages my computer. How do you unpair it from the computer?
- Asked by Craig P from Luling
- 28-Dec-2010

Best Answer
It's really easy. If you go into the Apple TV's settings, there's an option for Remotes. One of these options is 'Pair'. Select that, and it'll tell you to hold two buttons while you hold the remote right up to the Apple TV.
In the same way, open System Preferences on your Mac. Go to 'Security' and you'll see the option to pair a remote at the bottom of the screen- Answered by Rj K from Feeding Hills

This answer has changed. The MacBook Airs from late 2010 do not have IRDA ports, so this remote won't work, but will work with the older MacBook Air.

Will the Apple remote work with the new (Oct. 2009) 13" MacBook? It has been removed from the options for building your own MacBook.
- Asked by Rod E from Fairfield
- 20-Oct-2009
- Flag as inappropriate
Best Answer
NO! Ignore all those who said yes. According to the latest teardown photos, and it isn't mentioned any longer on Apples website, the IR is no longer part of the MacBook introduced in Oct. 2009. This means that since this remote is IR, it will not work with them. Any other computer yes, but not the new MacBook.

Can you use the Apple Remote with the Mac Mini as you navigate through webpages?
Instead of using the keyboard and mouse with the Mac Mini, can just the Apple Remote be used to surf the web?
- Asked by Rocco G M from Ocean
- 16-Feb-2010
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
The Apple Remote contains only six buttons used to control media playback. So no, you will not be able to browse the internet with this remote by itself. You can, however, control movies and music from your sofa, which is a really nice feature to have. There are actually several third party applications that will allow you to expand the features of the remote, and utilize other, third party remotes as well. Those applications are available online, and may have fees associated with them.

using apple remote with plex
Hi All!,
As OS/X Lion doesn't feature FrontRow - does anyone know whether the Apple Remote will work with Plex?
(or recommend a good media player that will!)
Cheers!- Asked by Martin S from Helensvale

Answer
Yep, I can confirm it works no problems, I run plex via a macbook pro plugged into the TV and it can sleep/wake the macbook and start plex all via the remote. You can run macbooks closed (clamshell mode) connected to the TV etc and they will still wake via the remote, mine does.
