Can one watch iTunes purchased HD movies on this 27" monitor. Resolution would seem to support it, but want to be sure before shelling out $1G
Use to be able to watch HD movies purchased from iTunes on current 23" Apple monitor, but cannot any more. Have never gotten a clear answer from Apple on this and frankly haven't spent the time to investigate further. Thanks.

Is there a way to connect this monitor to a good ol' reliable MacBook Pro with DVI out only? There are many MDP to DVI adapters but the other way?

In order to use the 27” monitor, your computers graphics card must be dual-link DVI, and must also support 2560x1440 resolution. If this is the case, then you need to get the DP400 to convert the dual-link DVI signal to miniDisplayPort. If your computer is not able to meet one of those two requirements, then with or without the DP400, you will not be able to make maximum use out of the resolution available with the 27” monitor.

I have an early 2009 Mac Pro. The video card has display port. Will it pass audio to the Cinema Display through that connection?

Answer
The audio is passed through the USB cable (it's actually a sound card in the monitor), not the mini display port. Only some of the new macbook pros pass audio through MDP now and it's primarily used in MDP to HDMI converters

Can the display charge a MacBook on your desk and be connected to a Mac Pro at the same time? The combined cable segments look too short!

Answer
This should be possible. The connectors are all ~10.5" from where the cable splits. That should give you 20+ inches between the connections. If everything connects on the left side near the back, put the MB to the left and a bit forward of the MBP. The MagSafe's 90° angle should work to your advantage.
