Is the USB extension cord that comes with the keyboard have "standard" USB male & female fittings?
I can't seem to fit a male USB plug into the extension's female fitting.

Best AnswerOK... so I discovered my own answer... Apple puts a little ridge on the USB keyboard "extension" female fitting. And, they put a matching valley on the male keyboard fitting. So.. the male keyboard fitting will slide into a standard USB port (in back of computer) and the ridged female fitting on the extension... BUT a standard USB male fitting will not fit into the female extension fitting because of the ridge. I wanted to use the extension to extend my printer cable.. so I filled off the ridge in the female fitting and now I don't have to buy a extension for the printer.

I'm looking for the old keyboard that is not low profile. Any available?
I type at approximately 80 to 90wpm and go through 2 keyboards a year. I prefer the higher profile keyboard as opposed to the ultra thin, low profile keyboard. Where can I buy one?
Thank you,- Asked by Karen F from Eureka

AnswerI think you're looking for a keyboard like this one, do a search for
"Apple Pro USB Keyboard White A1048"
and that will give you a bunch of hits for the keyboard I believe you're looking for, if you haven't found it already (which you very well might have, considering this question is a few months old, but since the only answer I saw was from several days ago, I figured I'd kick in my two cents since I was sure I knew exactly what you were looking for).
My iMac actually came with that keyboard a couple years back, maybe 3 years ago I forget, and I still have a wireless version of it which works just fine with 10.6.8 which I'm running now, and it's USB (or bluetooth with the wireless one) so it's compatible with any newer or even older Mac, really. I used that keyboard for a long time on a few different models, and I liked it a lot as far as the feel and the key sensitivity and rebound, the only problem I always had with it was inherent to the design, it tended to build up a lot of dust and grime under the keys where it was very hard to clean out. The case was clear, so you could see all of the dirt that fell down below the keys, unfortunately. If you stay on top of it with a vacuum it's not too bad, but if not, it's impossible to clean without literally taking every single key off and doing some major cleaning work! Otherwise I think it's a great keyboard, I still use the wireless version today in combination with the low profile wired one on my desk. Good luck! Oh, you can find them on auction sites as well as online stores and maybe even some traditional brick and mortar stores like Target or something.- Answered by Michael P from Old Lyme

Best AnswerIt is compatible with any iMac running 10.6.8 or later.
Under an earlier OS, the Function keys will not all work but the other keys will be fine. Function keys on the previous model keyboard, MB110LL/A, will work for Macs running 10.4.8 and up.- Answered by Andy M from New York

Best AnswerYes you Can use a wireless keyboard and the Apple keyboard at the same time, Thats what I do now, I have the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad on my desk, and an Wireless Keyboard under the desk, so if I plug the computer in to the Big screen, I just grab the Wireless keyboard and can sit any where in the room with the Wireless Keyboard.

It is possible to use this keyboard on PC with Windows 7?
- Asked by Sefi R

AnswerYES ! I've used my Apple keyboard on Windows 7, Windows 8, and both my Mac and Windows computers connected through a KVM switch. The Windows Key is the Command Key on the Apple keyboard. No special drivers are needed. The lower row of keys is just slightly out order for Windows, from left, the Control Key is first then the Alt Key, then the Windows (Command) key. It's easy to get used to. I like the back edge of my keyboard to be a little higher so I taped some 1/2 inch pvc pipe under the top edge of the Apple key board and I have the perfect tilt for me. I also fail to hit the space bar hard enough to get a space sometimes, so I cut a strip from a neoprene mouse pad, glued it to the space bar, and I get a space every time.

Is the delete key with the "x" in effect the backspace key on this keyboard? If not, is there a backspace key?
Need a backspace key.

Best AnswerOn the Apple keyboard with numeric keypad, the "delete" on the main keypad acts as backspace deleting what is left of it, the "delete with the x in the arrow" (next to "end" on the navigation pad) acts as delete, deleting what is right of it.

I'm about to buy it bundled with the iMac, I'd like the buy the French Keyboard, but is it an AZERTY or a QWERTY keyboard?
Recently moved in from France and I can't get used to the QWERTY keyboards and the lack of accent keys is a bummer too. I noticed Apple is offering the option of changing the keyboard language (English/French/Spanish/Japanese) when buying a Mac, but is the offered french keyboard an AZERTY (European French) keyboard or a QWERTY (Quebec, Canada) keyboard?
Thanks in advance.- Asked by Paul A from Cleveland
