Is fuel the same as calories burned?
Just wondering what exactly the "Fuel" means. My fuel number is higher than calories burned. My husband and I each got a Fuel band for Christmas. He thinks the Fuel means how many calories you need to eat. I think he's wrong. Does anyone know what the difference is between calories burned and the fuel number?

Best AnswerNike Fuel is whole integer number that represents your daily activity by calculating your calories burned along with your steps taken, while simultaneously factoring in your age, gender, weight and height. In short order, Nike Fuel is a calculation that allows everyone and anyone to compete regardless of their sex, age and any physical predispositions.

Answer
What a novel question! I just tried it out myself and found that my ankle is rather larger than my wrist, so it wouldn't close. Although I could add the spare links on and it probably would fit. That said, I don't think it was designed for use that way. The accelerometer is designed to track arm movements accurately, not leg movements. It would still capture data, but I don't think it would be accurate.
Way to think different though!- Answered by John R from Port Coquitlam

Can it be used in the water ( SWIMMING POOL) ??
- Asked by Danilava A from Paris
- 17-Dec-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerIt is 'water resistant', not 'waterproof'. Small splashes, washing your hands, etc, and you are covered, but swimming is not a 'small splash' and the FuelBand will flood and likely be damaged beyond what a bag if rice can possibly fix. I never wear mine in the shower because of the possibility of it being flooded with the hot soapy water.
So the answer is no.
I think Nike missed a large specialized market if the FuelBand was waterproof. Who knows, possibly the next version will be...- Answered by Robert C from Saginaw

Does it have a clock. Does it do anything in addition to providing a fuel number? Thanks.

AnswerClock? Yes. Fuel Number, steps, calories, and it looks sharp.
Unfortunately I only know this because I'm stuck with an extra large one, which appears to be swimming on my wrist.- Answered by Michael F from Fair Lawn

AnswerIt's compatible with the app, which means that if Nike eventually creates an Android app, it would work with it too but currently it's limited to Apple products.
Keep watching their support site. I'm sure that eventually they will support the FuelBand on more platforms.- Answered by Robert C from Saginaw

How do you set the time on the Nike+ Fuel Band
- Asked by Georgeann H from Westlake
- 7-Jan-2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerOpen the Nike Fuel app on your phone and go into settings. There is an option in there to "send current time to device". A second later the time on the band will be the same as is displayed on your phone! It's great for when you travel and need to change time zones!

Do you have to have a smart phone or computer to use this
- Asked by Janna B from Verona
- 4-Dec-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerIdeally, at least one of the above in order for you to get the most from the data it is compiling on your movements. A computer (laptop or desktop) is required in order to complete the initial setup of the device; but afterwards you could in theory use it by itself if you only want to see "today's" data.

How can the Fuelband be directly connected to a USB port without a cable when its proprietary port looks nothing like a standard USB connector? Thanks
- Asked by Hagop B from Chatsworth
- 29-Nov-2012

AnswerInteresting enough, it fits the USB port. Even though it comes with its own cable and connector, I once forgot to charge my band, (charges last weeks!). I was at work where we have PC's. I stuck the end into the USB port, canceled the download (didn't want my personal info uploaded onto the work computer), and charged it within the hour!
