AnswerNo. Parrot's apps are free. There are some other 3rd party apps that are not free, but they are options for your drone, not necessities.

Can it use its own wifi to connect to your main wifi, and be controllable away from home in that way?
- Asked by Sandra W from Tempe

AnswerAs far as i know the drone only supports Ad Hoc networks and not Infrastructure mode. That means it should NOT be able to connect to any existing WiFi network. So your ideal probaböy won't work.

What is the difference between the Drone and the Drone 2.0 besides the ability to record/share images/video?
With the price being exactly the same for both models (and the weight not listed for the Drone 2.0), if the only difference is the ability to record and share video and images, wasn't that just a software upgrade?

can the ar 2.0 carry a payload of 6 oz.?
- Asked by Dalton M from Tyler
- 29-Nov-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerI have read the payload is approximately 250g (about 8 ounces) and that seems about right.
I have pressed down on the hull of my hovering Drone and the resistance was probably very close that that measurement. However, payloads increase power needs, which increase motor and battery heat and shorten flight-time, and probably shorten the life of motors and battery. They also decrease the stability and flight characteristics.
Examples of payload additions and modifications, including additions of Go-Pro cameras, are abundant on the Internet.- Answered by Walter C G from Austin

How faer away can it fly from your phone? I live on a 150 bluff above 100ft tree's can it fly above the trees?
- Asked by Thomas G from Rochester
- 23-Sep-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Answeryes you can fly just above the trees but I would not try it. losing a product like this would be a huge waste of money. The drone can fly 160ft away from you and probably a little further but the connection may not last compared to what's around you.

Is there a difference in ease of training, ease of control or picture quality between using an iPhone or iPad?
- Asked by Richard S from Leesburg
- 25-Dec-2012

AnswerI found the ipad easier. But the smaller iPhone may be easier as all controls would be easier to reach. But the I pad has a bigger screen and makes it better to look at the video feed.
