what is imessage?
What is imessage and why is it better than regular text message.
- Asked by Alan R from Newport

Best AnswerIt's texting for iphone, ipod touch, ipad, and mac computers running mountain lion and the reason it is better is: It texts over wifi if you have your ipod touch, ipad, or mac running it and if you are sending a text to a non-imessage user it comes out as a normal sms but if you are sending a text to a imessage user, then it will send it as a imessage text and it goes over the interwebs so your texting bill doesn't skyrocket.

lighting adaptor
I was reading the reviews for the lightning adaptor. It appears that it works for some devices and not for others. I purchased a office audio system (Sony) that I used to plug in my iPhone 4 into. I purchased an off brand but the audio doesn't come through. If I purchase the Apple brand and it still doesn't work, will I be able to send it back for a refund?

I am looking for an Apple device for my 90 year old Dad to easily make calls to landline phones and cell phones.
Need something uncomplicated, something that has large print, has speed dial and that can be used when his landline phone or electric power is out.
- Asked by Will H from Bluffton
- 15-May-2013
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerIf you are looking for a device that can make calls to any phones or landlines then your only option really is the iPhone... No other Apple devices will allow you to make calls to non-Apple devices.
The dialing screen is already in large print and is easy enough to get to if you show him how :) But I am not sure if you can use speed dial though... you can ask at an Apple store though! The staff are very helpful :)- Answered by Stephanie W from Sydney

I've got an iPhone5 but no Mac - is it possible to connect the Wireless Keyboard by Bluetooth directly with the iPhone5 ?
I have no Mac - can I connect the Wireless Keyboard to iPhone 5 by Bluetooth directly?
- Asked by Johanna Maria L

- Asked about: Apple Wireless Keyboard
AnswerYes it's defiantly possible. Just follow these steps:
1. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone; this may seem obvious.
2. You’ll see the ‘Now Discover-able’ notice.
3. Push and hold down the pairing button on your keyboard; on the Apple keyboard, this is the round flush button on the right-hand side of the keyboard’s round base, and you’ll want to be holding down the Fn key while you hold the round flush button.
4. Hold down the button on the device until it changes to pairing mode; this is usually apparent when the status light changes its flashing pattern (the Apple keyboard does two quick flashes, then a brief pause, then repeats).
5. Watch the screen of your iPhone: initially it will say that it has detected a ‘Keyboard’ whose status is not paired.
6. Keep the button held down long enough, and the iPhone will pull the identifier from the device and this information will be displayed in the list.
7. Tap the name of the new device you’d like to pair. After a few seconds, you’ll get a screen saying that the keyboard would like to pair with your iPhone. Type the number the iPhone gives you on the keyboard, then press Enter.
8. The status screen will now say that your keyboard is connected.
Note that your iPhone and keyboard will remain paired as long as you leave Bluetooth on. This may be useful because you can enter your pin code off your keyboard when the unit is locked.- Answered by Brodyn W from Perth

Can I transfer my apps (progress) and data from an iPod to an iPhone?
I am planning on getting an iPhone 4S in April next year, and I have an iPod touch now. I have games and such on my iPod and I was wondering if I could transfer that data and progress from my iPod to the new iPhone through iCloud or iTunes. I wouldn't like to have to carry my iPod around just to play my games. Thanks! d(^_^o)
- Asked by Malcolm R from Hampton

Best AnswerYes! Using iCloud that comes standard with your new 4S (but you'll probably want the iPhone 5 by next April), you can sync with your iPod touch (settings-icloud-storage and backup- back up now) and get all of your info onto the new device. If you think you may need a little help doing so, when you get your new phone, be sure to update your iTouch to IOS 5 and bring it in to the apple store when you're ready to purchase the 4S. They'll help you transfer everything there... or you can easily do it at home by backing up onto iCloud with both devices. Hope this helps!
