When i'm at work I can't always have my iphone on me at all times....if I don't have my phone on me will it still keep track of my steps, dist, etc??

Can the Nike+ Fuelband be used around an ankle to better monitor activity?

I've been reading good reviews on the current model, however I have been curious as to why Nike chose the wrist over the leg/ankle. As a competitor bodybuilding, I'm beginning my cardio stage and would enjoy improved tracking of my workouts. This doesn't seem helpful when arm movement is measured, especially on leg workouts, etc. I was considering the extra large model, but it does not state the diameter size. Does anyone know if this can be used on an ankle? Thanks!
