will video camera on iPhone work while in the mount?

I want to mount my iPhone, preferably on windshield, to take videos while driving on race tracks. Would be used in connection with the Harry's Lap Time app. I tried another mount and most of the video screen was occupied by the mount; the mount obscured the video view finder.
