I am currently using a RangeMax ADSL modem wireless router DG834PN can I just plug in AirPort Extreme

I want to be able to use the guest feature and have a Mac, PC, touch, PS3, X box, and soon an I Phone. I am sick of resetting my router would this solve my problems.

Yes you can, this is exactly what I'm using. I decided to go with the Airport base because of the Netgear conflicting with other devices and drop outs. The Airport works very well, but I still lose internet connection frequently and are now unsure if this is caused, but highly suspect it is, by the Netgear. I have been trying to get some recommendations on what works best between my BT connection and Airport extreme. If anyone has any thoughts it would be much appreciated.

  • Open browser access to the modem/router settings and you should be able to find a setting to turn off the wireless. Replace the wireless router part of the modem/router by connecting the Extreme's Ethernet WAN port with Ethernet cable to the "modem" port of the modem/router.

If dropouts continue, Google "power cycling" for the most likely solution. Otherwise there may be a problem with a setup connection instruction for the modem. Perhaps the modem needs a firmware update, or simply needs to be re-provisioned. Check with your ISP?
