can ipod wall charger be used on ipad

I have a plain i pod with aussie wall charger and new ipad with uk wall charger. Can i use the aussie ipod charger on my new ipad or get a new one/adaptor for i pad

    The charger can be used on the iPad, but it will not charge at a fast rate at all.
