Can I have three monitors using the 5770 video card?

  • You can in theory - in practise its a bit more complicated. Firstly installation is easy and it does 'work' on an early 2008 2.8 8-core. However, it won't run 3 monitors unless the mini display ports are ACTIVE....as I found out to my enormous frustration. It appears that if you go MDP to VGA - they are active and you might be ok, but you have to make sure you have an active MDP to HDMI if you intend to use HDMI.

    Secondly, don't expect the performance to be very much better. I am finding that the graphics aren't quite a smooth as the previous older card, and I had some problems getting the windows over to the second monitor - which now seems to have resolved itself. Be warned - it is not necessarily a straight forward 'upgrade'!
