    The best I can tell is that if you do not have a lightning connection, then older models can connect via an auxiliary cable. However, that does not charge the device.

    I was hoping that it might have a USB port in the back that would allow both charge and play of any device that has USB cable connectivity, but that does not seem to be the case.

  • No. You must have a Lightening connector on your device. Currently this is only for the iPad 4, iPad mini, iPhone 5, iPod touch 5 gen and a few others.
