Would this be good for a teen's first electric? (plays acoustic now, but wants to switch)

Squier (a Fender sub brand) is making excellent guitars for beginners and intermediates, the fact that Apple is going into a deal with them speaks for itself.
The guitar can be used as standard electric with floor pedals and an amp or switched on OS X or iOS with all the GarageBand- or AmpKit - and Logic-features.
A serious axe for serious ambition, i'm gonna get me one. ;-)
