Does the new 13" Macbook Pro (announced October 22nd, 2012) with Retina Display have a CD drive installed?
If not, is there an accessory compatible with the notebook that runs CD drives? Also, if not, which Apple notebooks DO have built in CD drives?

Only MacBook Pro models which were introduced in Mid 2012 with non-Retina display have DVD built-in drive. In addition, you can buy an Apple USB SuperDrive for your new Mac from the Apple Store. The Product Code is MD564ZM/A.

No, there's no built-in optical disc drive. The regular (non-retina) MacBook Pros still have these drives, but Apple are moving away from optical media with their newer computers. If you still need a drive for DVDs and CDs, you can buy an external one that connects via USB. Apple sells one for the MacBook Air but it also works with any Mac with no built-in optical disc drive.

The retina display Mac laptops do not have a CD/DVD drive (AKA SuperDrive). You can use the Apple USB SuperDrive to install software and play and burn both CDs and DVDs, including double-layer DVDs on such systems.
The 13 inch and 15 inch Mac book pro (without retina display) do have a Super Drive.- Answered by Pearl D from San Diego

Due to the fact that they are beyond thin, I am not 100% sure if the 13" MacBook Pro will have it... The same goes for the iMac. But there are two options available... Buy last years model of the MacBook Pro, or buy the cd drive accessory. Hope this helps.

No the retina 13" Macbook pro (oct 2012) does not feature a superdrive/CD drive however all 2012 non retina macbook pros (summer 2012) do feature them . The 13" Macbook pro with retina does allow any portable external CD drive including apples own external USB superdrive.

The old MacBook Pros (still manufactured) 13" and 15" are currently the ONLY Macs with a built in disk drive/superdrive. Otherwise, a separate Apple Superdrive can be purchased separately for around $80+

No, sadly the new Macbook Pros with Retina Display are lacking the CD/DVD superdrive. If you would like you can still purchase and older MacBook Pro without the Retina Display.

No, the13" Macbook Pro does not have a CD drive installed (super drive). However, you can buy apple's USB SuperDrive available on apple's website. You also asked if apple has any notebooks that do have a SuperDrive in them. They are:
13-inch: 2.5GHz Macbook pro (non-retina)
13-inch: 2.9GHz Macbook pro (non-retina)
15-inch: 2.3GHz Macbook pro (non-retina)
Hope this helps :)- Answered by Logan M from Iqaluit

I believe any USB powered external drive should work. I use a Memorex MRX870LE on my 2011 Mac Mini (which also has no internal drive) and it works fine playing or recording CDs and DVDs, and it even burns BluRay-R disks too using the Toast Titanium software.
