    Great mount!

    I own and operate a hotel in CT. Before we had one Linksys WAP54G and 5 linksys access points. Each with there own problems. Droped signals, ect. So, we opted to get three extremes. We mounted the extremes on three floors, on the ceiling. Had an electrician wire the airports for power and with ethernet wires. What a difference in appearance. Guests do not even notice the airports. Mounting them on the ceiling, prevents theft. this mount is a must for any extreme owner. …More

    A must have for the Extreme router!

    Bought this to expand my network to the upstairs in my house. It fits well and secures the Extreme on my wall about 4 feet up. The best part is that it comes with a bracket to hang the power cord also. Neat and stylish and clean looking install. Took me about 10 minutes to put it up and could not ask for a better product.     It will make some difference. How much depends on a myriad of variables that are difficult to predict. As with any RF device, signal propagation and power is highly tied into the antenna design, and since nothing is 100% omnidirectional, changing the orientation will modify the coverage area, mostly likely resulting in an increased vertical bias, assuming Apple designed the Airport Extreme with a horizontal bias. (Which is most likely the design specification).

    All that being said, real-life performance will answer this question for you. If you notice a loss of signal strength, or a loss of coverage area, try bringing the unit back to horizontal, and testing it.

    If you do not have any other routers, the AirPort can only be mounted as far as the cables can reach. If you have another router, then it can be mounted anywhere it receives a good signal. …More
