Just an OK Case

At $79 I expected it to be a gorgeous leather and very functional, but it's not. It really does not feel like leather at all, and I just have not been able to prop the iPad up on a table with the case, the way that I expected I could.. I am thinking about returning it for a refund. …

Great case; really adds to the iPad Air

They brought one out from t I decided to get this case after asking an Apple employee if I could see one 'in action' so to speak. They brought one out from the back that had an iPad Air in it. I immediately decided to get it. I have prior experience with the Smart Case for a previous iPad (3) and didn't like it because the lip at the top seemed wide, clunky, and bulky. It could be that the new smaller form factor of the iPad Air allows it's Smart Case to be more pleasing. The top lip is narrow (like the bezel) and you hardly notice it. For my previous iPad I had both the Smart Case and a Smart Cover which I used in combination with a Belkin Snap Shield Secure. The Belkin case is a low profile shell (for the back) that was designed to accept the Smart Cover. I bring this up because it was my intention to use both setups and alternate them but since I disliked the older Smart Case so much I ended up never using it. For this new Smart Case, this is the only case I intend to get as I really like it. It's pricey as leather is the only choice, but if I had gotten the less expensive Smart Cover, I would have gotten an additional shell for the back so there would be extra cost there. I don't mind paying a little extra for a good solution like this. …

Yes my iPad air fits, but the cover is useless as a stand, is uncomfortable to hold and doesn't even fold nicely around the back. Shame on you Apple, this doesn't feel like it's 'designed by Apple', more like a cheap Chinese fake. …

Does not stand up well
This case does not stand up on its side very well. The last gen. iPad smart cover would stand up on its side with no problems. Whe This case does not stand up on its side very well. The last gen. iPad smart cover would stand up on its side with no problems. When you finally get this one to stand up you barely touch your iPad and it will tip over (and yes I'm folding it over the correct way). I returned it to the Apple store and the employee there acknowledged that this was a problem with this case; although he didn't want to admit it at first. It is disappointing to see Apple put their name on this product, not to mention for $80! …

The negative reviews don't make sense, it works great!

I had my doubts from reading all of them, but the case works perfectly and as described. It works via magnetism in all positions. I must say, the black case matches well with my space grey iPad Air. The leather is soft and feels great in your hands, the build quality is superb and all ports match up correctly, even the dual microphones. From normal use, the aniline dye hasn't worn off yet and the microfiber lining does a good job keeping my screen in good shape. The Smart Cover works well and I have had no issues with using it. Hope this helps. …
