Had a smart cover, which magnetically attaches to the side and protects only the front, but this is a step up in terms of protection (obviously), and the ability to both hold the iPad and put it into a bag for travel without worrying about the case moving around and scratching up the iPad (the smart cover had metal-to-metal contact with the device, and would pop off at unexpected times). The suede-like interior is excellent, and the exterior manages to look both industrial and elegant at the same time.

The one problem seems to be the "hinge" side, which pulls away from the iPad and has to frequently be realigned in order for the case to close correctly.

I'd love to see Apple follow up with a similar case for the new iPhone due this fall.

I really like this case. Fits great and protects the iPad well yet still maintains the slim profile.

The "hinge" is terrible, and it doesn't close properly most of the time (the edge of the cover pulls away from the edge of the iPad); sometimes it pulls away to the point where the magnets aren't close enough to put the iPad to sleep.

Probably the worst Apple product ever... I can't believe Apple put out something of this quality!

The staples have to be put on the outer rim of the case, just outside of the magnetic rim that is inside the polyurethane. One staple per corner. Now my ipad doesn't fall out anymore.

Mine started to fall apart after about a year, like people say. Got oil on it. Maybe that is why. I will still buy another one.
