Product Information

  • The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

  • Power adaptors do not last

    1.0 out of 5 stars

Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past beca use they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

  • New and Better than the Old MagSafe

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feel s differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple)

  • WAY better than old design

    5.0 out of 5 stars

i just purchased this product bc my old power adapter broke. this new design prevents the cord from bending right at the magnet, w hich is how my old charger broke. since the cord comes out of the magnet parallel to the computer side, and not perpendicular like the old one, it can't bend and cause the wires to fray over time... like it so far!

  • Glad I'm not alone, but sheesh!

About to buy my THIRD power adaptor! First one actually lasted about a year (thank goodness!!!) before the cord pulled out of the MagSafe plug. I kept it going for a while by just "stuffing" it back in, but finally sprung for a new one when the short started shutting the computer down (this is probably not good!). In two weeks - the first time it got just slightly yanked - the new one's plug separated from the magnet, which stays stuck in the computer. I can squeeze it together and it kinda works, but another three weeks later the cord is cracking at the same end!

It's a great idea, but the construction is awful!!!

  • Horrible quality.

Why is the cord made from such poor, inflexible material? Even Dell makes better chargers than Apple. The material is completely u nsuitable for bending and wrapping which are essential if you want to charge your laptop on the go. The material that encases the wires inside split open and the wires get damaged, and then you need to shell out $80 for another horrible charger. I enjoy using my Macbook, but what good is a Macbook that can't charge? I'm going to be using my spare non Apple computer, and probably won't purchase this charger; it's just going to break again in a few months.

  • Cheap quality cable cracking
