When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.
Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.
This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.
Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

So 85 watt charger will not harm the Mac Book Air? I would not want to have to toss them out now that I have moved from Pro to Air models.

Yes you can. It works, fine for mine. Since I have both Mac books. I am only using the 85w. You can use a higher watt to charge a lower watt item. Just you cannot use a lower watt for a higher item. Go read a few and they all agreed. …More

The white box is a built in power converter so you should be fine with plugging it in as long as you have the adapter that changes plug types. You can check to see if other things are converters if it has something like Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50-60Hz. This shows that an electric current of 100-240 Volts can power the converter without problem, which Spain's electricity falls in. If you cannot find this on a product (though most electronics made in about the last 5-10 years automatically convert) or if you feel you would rather side with caution you can but a converter, but only leave it plugged it when you need the power because converters burn out quickly from overheating if you leave them plugged in too long. …More

What power cord adapter can we use for both a 13" Macbook and a 17" Macbook Pro?
- Asked by KP from Saint Louis Park
- 8-Oct-2009
Best Answer
The power (Wattage) requirement of the Macbook Pro is higher (the adapter is rated 85W, while the one for the 13"is rated 60W), so you must use the 85W adapter. These regulated power supplies are able to maintain the voltage (V) constant, while the current (I) is adjusted according to the needs of the equipment being powered. Since P=V x I, if V is kept regulated at 10 Volts, the maximum current supported by the 60W adaptor will be 6 Amps, while the 85W adapter will supply up to 8.5 Amps. So, using the 85W with the 13" does not constitute a problem (on the contrary, the power adapter will run cooler), but if you use the 60W with the Macbook Pro, the current drained from the adaptor will exceed its specs, the adapter will overheat and its life spam will be shortened considerably. …More

the 60W magsafe power adapter that came with my late 2009 13" macbook pro gets extremely hot to the touch while charging. does it need to be replaced?
- Asked by PW from Long Beach
- 13-Jan-2012
Answer
It depends on what type of applications you are running at the time, such as Final Cut Pro or Safari.
When your computer is running big applications such as Final Cut Pro, you will notice your computer will need more power to do more tasks and therefor your MagSafe power adapter may get warm/hot.
If you are using a less mighty application such as Safari, your MagSafe power adapter should NOT get hot. If it does get hot/burning; I would replace it, especially if it has been mistreated before.
Hope this helps. …More- Answered by MS from Prince George
