Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone
If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slide shows and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Universal Dock and choose a play list, slide show or video. Then sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.
The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a dock connector, or any iPhone.
Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver.

I was disapointed when i bought this wonderful remote and tried to put it on the side of my iMac like i did for my old ine. And for presentations it looks great in your hand …More

Overall Good Improvement with New Design
Written by JC from Washington
3-Dec-2009
Overall this newly designed remote is an improvement on the previous design and definitely feels more in line with Apple's products. The new remote is a non-magnetic aluminum material that is much longer and includes an extra button compared to the original white plastic remote.
I love the look and feel of the remote but am having a hard time adjusting to the new significantly longer remote as it does not rest as well in the hand as the previous remote. Also, since the wheel control is flush with the remote, it will take some getting used to - whereas the previous design allowed easy and quick use without looking since the control wheel was elevated. The play/pause button is moved from the center of the control wheel to below and replaced with a "select" button. There is a menu button as before.
This remote works excellent with any Apple product with an IR receiver manufactured after 2005 - including AppleTVs, Mac Minis, iMacs, Mac Books, and more. …More6 of 6 people found this useful
