    Worth the upgrade

    Written by MP from Naperville

    3-Feb-2009

I'll admit that when I first read about iLife '09, I couldn't see the value in the upgrade. Now after spending some time with it, I am able to say that this is REALLY worth the price.

iPhoto is simply amazing and better than ever. Faces and Places really add that "umpf" factor to the photo library. I've got over 1300 pictures, and Faces is so helpful and fun. Places is so unique as well. It's fun to see all the geotagged locations that I have been to in the world. Add that to the ability to instantly upload to Facebook and Flickr and this program is worth it alone.

iMovie? Two words ...green screen. It's a riot and so much fun. iMovie is so, so much better than iMovie '08. So much of an improvement that it's hard to not use or enjoy iMovie. This will bring out the Spielberg (or Michael Bay) in us all. Yes, the video stabilization actually works well!

GarageBand is simply key for any musician out there. The new lessons are fantastic for both beginners and experts. The artist lessons are alright...nothing to be amazed over. I'm not going to pay $5 for Patrick Stump to teach me Fall Out Boy, but artist lessons are still great for some people. I hope that more free lessons are made available to more than just guitar and piano. The new amps and stomp boxes for guitars (and bass!!) are just awesome. Its literally like having your rig digitally emulated, so recording is a lot more fun and easy.

Those upgrades right there make this a must have for any iLife and Mac user. Is it worth the $79? Very much so.

    Trumps iLife 08 Ten Fold!

    Written by PH from Tustin

    5-Feb-2009

I got iLife 09 mainly because of the features in iMovie, or to be honest the lack of features in iMovie 08. But I was pleasantly surprised to see the great new UI on iWeb, the new features in iPhoto, and of course the changes made to iMovie, finally letting me go away from iMovie HD to a newer program. Thank you for the fix Apple! More

    Thanks Apple!!

    Written by DN from Seattle

The highlights from my vantage point so far... I love the site-specific publishing option in iWeb!! I have numerous sites and pages and previously had to switch users or computers to manage them all. I had opted to stick with iMovie HD vs iMovie '08 until now. With the latest improvements, iMovie '09 should meet most of my needs. The SHATTER slide show in iPhoto is really a lot of fun!! I am enjoying all of the features thus far and am looking forward to more time spent with Faces, Places, and Garage Band. More

Garbage, junk, horrible, DO NOT BUY FOR iMOVIE, worst ever

    Written by GF from Conifer

    11-Nov-2009

The new iMovie is quite possibly the hardest to use, confusing and idiotic piece of junk apple has ever released. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT A GOOD VIDEO EDITING SUITE. I have been using video editing software for 5 years, and since I've switched to HD (AVCHD) I've been limited by apple's software. DO NOT BUY THIS WORTHLESS SOFTWARE! More

    Love iLife '09

    Written by DC from Statesboro

    7-Nov-2009

Absolutely love this update so far. I had '08 and things that I thought needed improving there were fixed here really nicely. Working with different photo libraries is a complete breeze in iPhoto and iMovie can now has super easy access to project and events on different hard drives connected to your Mac. Just plug in the drive with the projects and events and they show up in iMovie. Very happy with this update. More

The only upgrade for iPhoto 08 is the updates released though the update software installer. To see if you have the latest iPhoto 08 version do the following

Step 1: Click the Apple logo in top left
    Step 2: Click Software Update...

It will then do a system software update just follow the commands.

Please note I do not work for Apple but I believe that there is NO free upgrade to iLife 09 or iPhoto 09 since is it part of iLife 09.

Apple however will continue to release patches and improvements to iPhoto 08 until they fell the need to ask you to upgrade.

iLife 09 while it maybe 79$US which is around 100$AU it is a great investment for anyone that does not have iLife already, users that have iLife 08 should stay on the version until they feel they have the money to upgrade.

As I say it is not something you need it is something you would like.

    Hope that answers your question.

You can use the standard iLife '08, but I'm not sure about '07 or earlier.
On iLife '08 click 'View' at the top, and the 'Show in Toolbar' in the drop down box, and then 'Burn'.
Make a folder/album with all the pictures you want to burn on to the disc, or just do a single album, and click burn in the bottom right.

    Hope this help.
