Flex Time rules!
Written by NB from Seattle

The new Flex Time features are HUGE!. Audio edits that would take me 20 - 30 minutes before, usually in a 3rd party software are now completed effortlessly in minutes all in the arrange page. I would also argue that the audio editing system is more intuitive and visual than Abelton Live or Pro Tools.
The Flex Time is super sweet for you electronic + hip hop producers. You can use the flex tool and stretch out some vocal bits all crazy and random. And then quantize the audio to line up to your beats. It makes for some really interesting controlled chaos in your tracks.
GUI has not changed much but the Flex Time and new Guitar Amps + Pedals alone are well worth the upgrade. Also most all bugs I had in Logic 8 are gone.
Thanks Apple for a great upgrade. …More66 of 71 people found this useful

'Flexing' our muscles Logic 9
Written by DP from west newbury

Hey, just finishing up a test run with our new copy of Logic 9. We waited, it's here, it was worth the wait. So far I've noticed a considerable difference in boot/load times, less taxes on our systems and the flex control is so easy to use! After 10 minutes or so of playing around I felt like a pro. Tell your artist to leave their tallent at home, digital recording with Logic does all the work for them... I wish I were kidding. Soooo looking foreward to trying it out in Snow Leopard. Thanks Guys! …More

Way to Go Apple!
Written by JD from Orlando

I have been using both ProTools and Logic Pro for quite sometime now, (also for some time I was also using Q-Base). This upgrade helped me to make up my mind in deciding I really don't need Pro tool, Q-Base or any other pro audio application anymore. This new upgrade makes Logic Pro a very complete application. I honestly believe that for the money there is not a more complete pro audio application out there.
I appreciate the fact that you can now make much better use of your computer system resources (RAM) especially when doing automation. I the flex tool was a much needed tool it makes Logic Pro a lot more easier to to edit with... the new pedals really cool and the amps are really nice. Way to go Apple! …More45 of 54 people found this useful

Worth the investment
Written by DC from Newmarket

I started out with Garageband, moved to Logic Express and then to Logic Studio 1. I believe that any mid to serious user of the Studio will find the upgrade extremely worthwhile for the money. The flex capability is very useful and I continue to find the UI to be both simple and extremely powerful. While I use it mostly for pod and netcasting, and use the loops functionality to build bed tracks and intros and outros. It's an amazing tool and I know I am only scratching the surface. …More

Flex Edit is remarkable!
Written by DC from West Palm Beach

I have been using Logic for about 2 years now and recently upgraded from 8 to 9. I was a bit dissapointed because there really didn't seem to be much difference between the two. No new synths and only new vocal loops, but using the flex time editing pretty much makes it worth the upgrade. I'm not the best guitarist, but this tool allows me to clean up my recordings to sound more professional. It also makes it much easier to create loops, because you are able to adjust the recordings to be in perfect time. I already had Guitar Rig 3.0 so I wasn't that excited about the new amps, but they are very good and load faster than GR 3. Overall I am very happy with the product. The vocal loops sound very well recorded, but I doubt that I will use them. I would prefer more drum loops geared toward rock/metal. Main Stage also has been upgraded and their are some neat features there, but I use Logic to record for the most part. I still have a lot more to explore to see how I will use the new features. …More

I have a Mac desktop and laptop, can I use Logic on both or do I have to buy an additional licence? If so, what is the cost of an extra licence?

It should be the same as Logic 8. I have Logic Studio on my Mac Pro and Macbook Pro and have run Logic on both at the same time with no problem. The license does state that you are allowed to install it on two machines (a desktop and laptop, both of which you own) but are to run it only on one machine at a time. …More

The most reasonable and civilized method I know of. You enter your serial number. Same as on Digital Performer, bless 'em all. Apple is to be commended on its rare stance in the music industry of not penalizing its legal purchasers with onerous, often iffy schemes. One more reason to consider Logic as a primary DAW. …More
