Overview

With the iPhone 3G Dock, you get easy access to a USB port for syncing or charging and an audio line out port for connecting to powered speakers. You can even conduct speakerphone calls with your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S in its dock.

Here are some ways you can use the iPhone 3G Dock:

  • Connect the dock to your computer with the USB cable that came with your iPhone 3G, then place your iPhone 3G in the dock to sync and charge the battery. No more reaching behind the computer to plug it in.
  • Connect the dock to an electrical outlet using an Apple USB Power Adapter (included with your iPhone 3G), then place your iPhone 3G in the dock to charge the battery.
  • Connect the dock to a stereo or speakers using an AV cable or a stereo audio cable to play music from iPhone 3G.
  • Place your iPhone 3G in the dock and enjoy clear audio during speaker phone calls thanks to special audio porting.

    No cable?

    Written by JH from VALRICO

This dock is a great idea and can be very handy for a work situation. It really irks me that I have to go find a connector cable because one is not included in the package. I want to keep the dock ready at work, and keep a dock connector in my laptop bag for syncing and charging on the go. I find it very frustrating to purchase a seperate cable to power it up. Cables aren't that expensive, one should be included for the price of this accessory. More

Not as good as the previous model

    Written by RJ from Chicago

I like the way it looks, and how the phone fits into the dock, but I've had a huge problem with touching the phone anywhere on the top half and it becoming dislodged from the dock ever so slightly, disconnecting from the computer, and then reconnecting immediately. Its become a huge hassle especially with the new backing up before sync in iTunes. I'm not thrilled with this dock, compared with the previous version, and I will probably return it. More

    Just a dock

    Written by SD from DURHAM

    Pros:

    - The viewing angle of the dock looks pretty natural when used on your desk, but also on the average night stand.

    - Easy to dock and undock. Fits snugly, but not too tight

    - Small and easy to take to an office

    Cons:

    - No extra cord

    - Don't ask me how, but it's easy to knock over face forward. Wouldn't have been a problem if the "base" area was a little bigger

Overal not a bad solution, but I went with a all silicone cover. No te phone doesn't fit in the dock unless you uncover the bottom part of the skin. This could have been prevented if the connector had variable height options.

Without a cover the phone would scratch so I think I will get rid of the dock and just lay it flat.

    In my view

    Written by MD from Dublin

    1-Dec-2009

In my view, I think that it is only decent. It charges the iPhone well but if you touch it comes out. This is a problem. It could be easily fixed if it had some sort of adjuster adjust how tight it stays on, but unfortunately it doesn't.

The audio is suprisingly good. Not excellent but good. But if you touch the phone to maybe play music or call someone else it comes out like I said earlier. Once again, a problem. The audio is still pretty good and it would work well if you were on a conference call. But if you are a person who deals with many calls then this is the wrong thing for you.

Another thing is that it is not good as an external dock from your computer and it doesn't work well if you are syncing because, what do you know; it comes out AGAIN! But if you do manage to keep it in; then it works fine!

Some people have not read the box which clearly states that is DOES NOT COME WITH A CABLE. So you can't really say it's apple's fault. Yes, they should of included a cable but they didn't. So we have to get on with and use the other cables. But don't bother because if you do, it won't work anway because it will once again, come out!

    Well,
    thats my view anyway.

    For the complainers!

Read what comes in the box before your purchase! There is no cable included, but at this point you should ALREADY have one from your iPhone purchase!

    Pros:
    Looks cool, charges well.

    Cons:
Base isn't sturdy enough, can't use with an iPhone case on.

    What do I say:
Get the universal dock instead of this one. Much better quality, and it comes with a remote.

    RIP-OFF!

    Written by BM from Navarre

    22-Nov-2009

The only reason I purchased this device was because I needed a new cable. I figured that I could just pay the extra money for a dock setup, instead of buying another power brick.
The worst part about all this was that the packaging was big enough to precisely hold a dock and USB cable. Why the wasted packaging space, and the $37.61 for what might as well been a small pointless paper weight. You can buy the cord itself in the online apple store for $19.95 +tax.

    A worthless smug upgrade!
