I replaced my original apple keyboard with the new one for my Mac Pro since the original did not have a crisp enough key stroke...it seemed "mushy" sometimes...but now....amazing!

THE ONE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT IS the two usb ports will not support an ipod. I have the video Ipod and I get a warning that the USB power is too low to power the attached device. I bought this key board to clear away clutter on my desk and hopefully eliminate a few cords. Unfortunately its not true and I was disappointed. I am very much an apple fan but the low USB ports were a not as advertised on the website.

This little baby uses Function keys for audio up and down and brightness, and Vista really didn't like it. Sadly, I'm going to have to keep using my old keyboard until they update BootCamp to work with this new keyboard. That's why I'm only giving three stars. Otherwise, it'd be a full FIVE, baby!

  • Why even bother with the usb ports?

This would've allowed me to get rid of the hassle of plugging and unplugging usb devices from my mac. It seemed like a great deal, but of course there was a catch. The usb ports are "low-powered" usb ports, so things that you ordinarily connect and disconnect from your computer, such as a phone, iPod, camera, flash drive, etc., do not work through the usb ports on the keyboard. SERIOUSLY APPLE? The only thing i could get to work through the usb ports was a wired mouse, which is interesting since Apple does not currently sell a wired mouse. But that brings the question of why put two ports on the keyboard if the only thing that will work is a mouse? It's not like someone connects two mice to one computer.

I really like the keyboard, but can't figure out why Apple doesn't sell a wireless version. My iMac came with a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse, which was a great setup, no wires at all! So I've gone back to the wireless keyboard and this one sits an a drawer. :( Keyboard is 5 stars, that wire knocks off two stars.
