    this is a great product if you use it properly. Because it is a lithium polymer battery it needs to be charged fully then drain fully and charged fully etc... to keep it healthy. I get about 4 - 4.5 hours out of this if I i drain it and then charge it (like above). when i first used it like normal i only got about two hours until i realized that you had to do this. This is a great product and if you use it in this way you can even achieve as much as five hours! This is a great product and i would highly recommend it.

    I love seeing 5-star reviews for this thing. Here is the truth: the MacBook battery is big, heavy, and will only get you an additional 2-2.5 hours of battery life under normal usage. Yeah, you need one. No, it is not great. …More

    I got this battery because I was going to be going on a 10 hour plane ride. It was very, very nice to be able to keep my computer for almost the whole trip. I have read a lot of people saying that it last for 3 or 4 hours, but here is a tip, turn down the brightness level on the screen to as low as it can go (I can get by on a notch of 1 when there is a light on in the room). When on the lowest level, the battery lasts for around 5 hours, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. I would recommend this for someone who uses their MacBook for long periods of time. …More

    I've seen reviews that dog the Apple Battery for only getting 2-2.5 hrs more than the cheapies. I've got news for you, that is AMAZING. I'll take an extra 2 hrs all day long. That is the difference between making it through a work day and having to stop and recharge. Awesome Batteries! …More

    The idea that the "bulging" battery issue is for depleted batteries etc is BS... my current battery has decided to literally split its seams after 71 cycles. The fact that apple doesn't replace these is definitely an extremely sore point with this customer. …More

    I recently ordered a replacement MacBook Rechargeable Battery so can hopefully help here.

    The battery I ordered was a "MacBook Battery (White)" Model A1185 and the Apple product code was MA561G/A. So it does indeed seem to match the product you are asking about.

    I've been using the original battery that came with my MacBook 3 years ago.
    Cycle Count is 773, and the battery still lasts for about 2 hours on a full charge.
    I was told early on that you need to let the battery charge fully, and discharge fully before plugging into a power outlet. I've done that since the day I got my computer, and this is what has preserved my battery for so long.
    The quickest way to ruin a battery is to keep it plugged in, or to charge it before it discharges completely as this reduces the battery life     …More
