If you follow the instuctions in the manual, and cycle your battery once a week. You can get about 4 to 5 hrs of battery life out of your mac book pro. i tried cycleing the battery and it really works and restores the batteries life. But the key is you have to do it once a week. …More

Battery gets very, very hot, in my opinion, but great battery life so far

I think the battery life is pretty good on the MacBook Pro. I was on a three-hour flight the other day and my Mac battery died right before landing. Other PC users around me had to shut down because of battery issues 45 minutes before. After the flight, I actually had one business person ask me what kind of computer I have and questions about the battery b/c he couldn't believe it lasted so long.
However, in my opinion, this battery gets extremely hot and more so than any PC that I have worked on or the PowerBook I had until I upgraded to this one. So, be sure to wear pants or use a pillow if you're going to use your laptop in your lap!
The design is great for the MacBook Pro and so is the battery, I just wish they would've used a larger fan in the MacBook so it would keep this thing cool. I think it's more a flaw of the computer design and less of the battery, though. …More1226 of 1817 people found this useful

My Mac Book Pro is awesome. I bought it in 2006 in San Diego and have only had to fix one thing since: The backlight, which is expected. However, I am now on my second battery and it's very close to dying on me. The laptop, supposedly a mobile device, has to be connected to an outlet all the time! This stinks to a high degree because now I have to buy a third battery, knowing it's only gonna last me about six months. I just hope the batteries in the new apple notebooks aren't as crummy, especially since they are enclosed in the unibody, you can't just pop 'em out anymore. …More

There is clearly a design flaw in the macbook pro battery. I am now about to purchase my 3rd battery in as many years. I use a dell for work and have had the same battery for 3+ years without any issues. Macbook pro battery design is flawed. Mac works great when it is on AC power or when battery is new. Mac Book Pro Battery Life

My battery is 21 months old. It currently provides ~2 hours of power while running 4+ applications or the DVD player. In terms of cycling, I have not applied any particular regime; I plug-in whenever I can. The unit has performed flawlessly over 2 field seasons in a remote area of northern Tanzania, but perhaps my machine has been the exception to the rule.
This review is not to promote the battery, rather it is to indicate that the inconsistent performances among our batteries suggests that Apple has had an issue with consistent quality. While Apple tends to produce superior machines, customer support remains wanting. I hope this discourse assists Apple in acknowledging a problem with battery performance, and that these issues are resolved. …More3 of 3 people found this useful

As I recently found out, yes indeed it does. I have been leaving my MBP power adapter/charger cord connected for extended periods of time, and just last week when going through the new system pref's of Snow Leopard I say a triangle with an ! inside it in the energy saver/ battery pref's. I asked a friend that works at the local Apple store about it, and his words were "Dude, you killed your battery". I now get at most an hour before the battery low warning pops up.
And all along I have been doing the battery cycling on a monthly basis.

The 1175 fit the 15", so select the 15" size for the newer MA458LL/A and you'll be good. And be sure to download the battery firmware updates for your particular laptop model, if you haven't. You can do that before you install the new battery. I'd add the links to the pages here on apple's support sites that discusses those updates but apple won't let me do that within these answers. Just google "EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs" and you'll find them. …More
