    Cycle your Battery

If you follow the instuctions in the manual, and cycle your battery once a week. You can get about 4 to 5 hrs of battery life out of your mac book pro. i tried cycleing the battery and it really works and restores the batteries life. But the key is you have to do it once a week. More

Battery gets very, very hot, in my opinion, but great battery life so far

I think the battery life is pretty good on the MacBook Pro. I was on a three-hour flight the other day and my Mac battery died right before landing. Other PC users around me had to shut down because of battery issues 45 minutes before. After the flight, I actually had one business person ask me what kind of computer I have and questions about the battery b/c he couldn't believe it lasted so long.
However, in my opinion, this battery gets extremely hot and more so than any PC that I have worked on or the PowerBook I had until I upgraded to this one. So, be sure to wear pants or use a pillow if you're going to use your laptop in your lap!
The design is great for the MacBook Pro and so is the battery, I just wish they would've used a larger fan in the MacBook so it would keep this thing cool. I think it's more a flaw of the computer design and less of the battery, though.

    Seriously?

Why can't they come up with a battery that doesn't die after 100 cycles. I shouldn't have to spend $130 on a new battery every 9 months. More

2nd battery dead within one year

    Written by LF from Waterville

When the original battery that came with my Early 2008 Macbook Pro started to fail, I took it to an Apple Store and they verified that it only had 70% health after 60 cycles. That was about one year after I bought my Macbook Pro so I got a new replacement battery for free.
My new battery, however, started to die (again) and now it is only registering 70% health after 80 cycles. I am getting the infamous "service battery" that many Snow Leopard owners are experiencing even though I am 100% certain that I followed all the proper battery care and calibration procedures recommended by Apple.
My conclusion: these batteries, which are supposed to retain 80%+ health after 300+ cycles do not perform as intended and they are not worth my $110!!!!!!

    Worst battery ever!!!

    Written by GO from Bronx

I own quite a few notebooks and this battery is by far the worst. In the 1year and 10 months I have had my MacBook Pro, this will be the second time replacing the battery! If I had known that I would be replacing batteries like this I would have just bought an iMac. I refuse to buy another battery. I cycle my battery, the last one had 100 and the first one had 257. I have a 5 year old dell 17in laptop and the original battery still holds a charge of an hour and a half(it was a 2 hour 20min battery in a desktop replacement) More

As I recently found out, yes indeed it does. I have been leaving my MBP power adapter/charger cord connected for extended periods of time, and just last week when going through the new system pref's of Snow Leopard I say a triangle with an ! inside it in the energy saver/ battery pref's. I asked a friend that works at the local Apple store about it, and his words were "Dude, you killed your battery". I now get at most an hour before the battery low warning pops up.

And all along I have been doing the battery cycling on a monthly basis.

    Bummer Man!

    Best Answer

The 1175 fit the 15", so select the 15" size for the newer MA458LL/A and you'll be good. And be sure to download the battery firmware updates for your particular laptop model, if you haven't. You can do that before you install the new battery. I'd add the links to the pages here on apple's support sites that discusses those updates but apple won't let me do that within these answers. Just google "EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs" and you'll find them. More

"Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your replacement coverage for a defective battery to three years from the date of your notebook purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan. However, the AppleCare Protection Plan for notebook computers does not cover batteries that have failed or are exhibiting diminished capacity except when the failure or diminished capacity is the result of a manufacturing defect. Apple offers a battery replacement service for MacBook Air and all MacBook Pro notebooks with built-in batteries. You can purchase replacement batteries for late models of Apple notebooks directly from the Apple Store." More
