More than 40 Software Instruments
With over 40 new software instruments, you can create your own songs and soundtracks that sound as if they were composed with authentic world instruments. These new instruments have extensive layers and articulations to re-create the realistic performances when played from a standard midi keyboard. Among the instruments now available:
- Exotic Strings: Ultra-realistic stringed instruments in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and flavors, including Indian Sitar, Japanese Koto, Persian Santoor, Russian Balailaka, Spanish Flamenco Guitar and more.
- Drum & Percussion Instruments: Five authentic world drum kits that incorporate the most relevant, interesting percussion from Asia, India/Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and European Folk.
- Ethnic Wind Instruments: Chinese, Japanese, Native American flutes, Highlands Bagpipes, Celtic Tin Whistle, Indian Shehhai Oboe, Peruvian Panpipes and much more.

- 12 GB of available disk space available to install the World Music media
- GarageBand 2, Logic Express 7, or Logic Pro software; GarageBand Jam Pack: World Music is not fully supported if using GarageBand 1.

.Mac is definitely a great service, but allow me to correct a little misguided information.
It offers only a "sampler" of the Jam Packs, not the full versions. You get only a rough handful of the loops provided in each pack for free, and none of the software instruments that you control through the keyboard. …More604 of 943 people found this useful

This Jam Pack I think is the best one... IF world music is your thing (if not then go for the Jam Pack that you think will fit your needs first). The Asian instruments are the prominant ones. The loops though are a little frantic with cuban bongos and eastern european gypsy rythems.
The accordians are cool - but oddly controlled. The lower ends punch too loudly in comparison to the higher end fade-in action. Even if you're playing your keyboard just like a normal person would.
The Bagpipe (and yes there's only one) is a little dull, you'll find some 6/8 and some 3/4 rythems on this...some odd guitars, but the African Singers (there's only one good software instrument for these), Japanese Koto, and Drums are the stars (the playable drums... not just the loop drum rythems) - You can create some great sounding Taiko pieces and Bollywood tunes. …More495 of 803 people found this useful

I love these Jam Packs, but let me help you save some money. Get .mac instead. For the price of one Jam Pack, you get 1 GB of REALLY USEFUL online storage, great computer synching features, and the ability to download these (yes, all 4) Jam Packs.

Still no 3/4 loops...

Very disappointed.
Apple told me on a support call that while GarageBand was not really focused on the type of user who would even know how to use a 3/4 drum loop (their words)... the World Music Jam Pack included "some" 3/4 drum loops.
It includes ONE... and it's really bad. So despite paying for all the Jam Packs, I now have to go to a loop website and pay to download the elusive 3/4 or 6/8 loop. Am I alone in finding this a huge omission? I had thought that many pro musicians use GarageBand. …More127 of 151 people found this useful
