Great sound, excellent comfort!
I've struggled to find the "right" pair of headphones for 10 years. These came highly recommended from various audio and tech blog I've struggled to find the "right" pair of headphones for 10 years. These came highly recommended from various audio and tech blogs and after listening to them in the store and trying them on, I was sold! Earbuds are painful for me to wear, larger over ear units fall off of me. The BW p3 is the first pair of headphones I've worn that don't fall off and deliver great sound in noisy environments! These are designed for business travelers, so the bass is a little more forward than I would like, but that is by design because bass drowns out background noise from airports and in a noisy environment like my house with three barking dogs, I'm grateful for it! The fabric covering is super comfortable. These headphones are designed to be worn for hours at a time and they stood up to my six hour road trip over the weekend without my ears feeling sweaty or sore. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase! …

My new primary set of headphones

For the past 2 years I have com I usually don't write a review for a product unless it blows me away and the B&W P3 did just that. For the past 2 years I have commuted to work on the subway and everyday I have carried two pairs of headphones, one over-the-ear set of Sony's, and the in-ear Shure SE215. I used the Sony for comfort and when I wanted to hear more of my surroundings, I used the Shures when I wanted to enjoy crystal clear audio, and seal out the world.
Since I bought the P3, I have stopped carrying those other two headphones. The P3 has completely replaced those two great headphones. Why? Well, these not only sound amazing, clear, and punchy, but they block out enough of the outside world to let me tune out, and with the volume relatively low, they let it in too. They are VERY comfortable, the mic is in a great position for clear conversations, and the fact that they fold means they fit in a jacket pocket or in their rock solid case. Great buy. Don't even hesitate. BUY THEM! …

BUY BUY BUY!
If you are looking at purchasing a pair of headphones in the 200 dollar range, LOOK NO MORE! Seriously, click purchase. I tried If you are looking at purchasing a pair of headphones in the 200 dollar range, LOOK NO MORE! Seriously, click purchase. I tried the beats, I tried the Souls, I even tried some Senheisers (the runner ups), but ultimately they all fell down! Beats are just a sub box on your head, they are tight on your head to create the tight box to make the amplified bass, uncomfortable for any lengthy period of use, same with the souls but with a more balanced sound. Senheisers are the runner up in almost any model that I experienced, but ultimately the over ear design was to big, bulky and hot. These recreate sound perfectly! they are super light and comfortable for long long long wears! Plus, the fabric lets air in and your ears don't sweat. And last but not least, look at that design, look great alone, and look like they were designed for the iphone and macbook! …

The Ones: Bang for Buck, Comfort & Class!!
BEST headphones I've owned: optimal bang for buck; superb sound, design, comfort & class.
MUSIC means a lot to me. A multi-inst BEST headphones I've owned: optimal bang for buck; superb sound, design, comfort & class.
MUSIC means a lot to me. A multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter I constantly listen to music, work out regularly & use video professionally. Having tried many headphones over the years I'm amazed with these & extremely satisfied. Design is top-shelf, sound is superb, comfort is fantastic, & they're classy – I mean really nice!
SOUND: Compared with Dr. Dre Solo Beats they're actually quite similar; a little more broadly balanced in the mids & highs with just a touch less bass but barely noticeable. They do have great bottom though, which is integrated into a truly balanced, brilliant mix.
DESIGN/BUILD: Sooo sweet, genius design; quality components (except for the rinky-dink cord, which is the only neg in the package); folds up perfectly; super comfortable with great sound isolation for my ears; really light but seem much more durable than Beats which just don't stand up to heavy use over time.
FEATURES: It's all about sound & fit for me…the phone seems to work well enough (I use this feature only at the gym); case is a little bulky but very protective (I'm using a different carrying system now); not my original work-out choice as I want to preserve the life of these babies but can't seem to find durable earbuds that fit & sound great…besides, the sound is a spoiler & comfort is unmatched, at least for me, & the minimalist design is well suited.
BOTTOM LINE: Best $200 listening device you can get! Balancing superb sound, design, comfort, quality & portability – P3s are the optimal bang for the buck! …

Love The Phones - Hate the Cord & Case

The bass is pretty heavy, but I changed my music settings on my iPhone to "Vocal Booster" and that helped. I had another pair of Bowers and Wilkins before and regretted selling them. B&W are really well designed and engineered. But the cord on the P3 is like a cord on a kid's toy. Doesn't match the thinking of the headphones. They put zero thought into the cord. Thin, tangly, and crinkly. Take a clue from Apple's lightning cable - twice the thickness as the B&W cord and very soft. The case is a loser too. It's solid plastic, but it's so bulky it's hard to hold, doesn't sit flat on a surface, not too easy to open, and too bulky to put in a glove compartment or slip in a briefcase. Just carrying the case from my car to the front door - also holding papers, a drink, a dog leash - the case was a slippery, weird problem. I'm going online to find a better solution for the case. …

Burn them in over a weekend by playing loud music and they transform - the treble opens up, the midrange comes through and they sound very nice indeed. They remain slightly bass-forward, but nothing like the Beats headphones. They also drive nicely from an iPhone or iPod/Pad without separate amplification. …

Do these headphones work for someone wearing hearing aides? (Not able to get enough amplification with ipad volume alone)

You probably need to investigate an external desktop amplifier that you put between the ipad and your headphones. For example, check out the Fiio range of amplifers. They have a range of desktop and portable amplifiers that should do the job. Warning! Check the connections as I understand the ipad has a different connection than the ipod. The Fiio range normally connect using USB ports, although I connect a Fiio amp to my ipod using the standard ipod connector port (its a connector also sold by Fiio). With the P3's this set-up gives excellent sound quality. …
