AirPlay Not Ready From Apple But Great Quality From B&O
Not ready for AirPlay from an iPod touch or iPhone 4S; Sporadic connection and rather disappointing performance, to say the least. Although, the direct hardwire option sounds good from such a small and portable package. …

Small Box with Big Tower Sound
I actually bought all 3 - Big Jambox, Bose Soundlink, and Beolit 12 then test them out for several days. I ended up returned the B ose and Jambox. Beolit is by far the best quality among all 3... I mean by FAR. This little box can match up with any low/mid range book shelf speaker. Very nice high, mid and bass. Bose has some wave bass but blurry mid and high while Jambox has good mid and high but lack of bass. Also, when you crank up the volume, bose and jambox started to distort but Beolit remain good. If quality is all your care and able to afford additional bucks, BEOLIT is the one. If price drops to $599, i will give 5 stars …

WOW the BEST!
The best sound from small form factor.
The connection is not so simple, but easy enough to do it.
Quick guide was enough to set it up.
Connection app was simple enough to do it.
Pricy, but if you want portability, style, SOUND QUALITY, then go for it. …- Written by Hyuk J J from San Diego

Great sound but airplay?
The sound is really good for such a small device. But the interface and airplay? What did they think at B&O. Also the support of B &O is poor. First email the responded with the standard stuff you find on the site the next follow-up email they don't respond???? So don't buy this product if you want a trouble free airplay solution.
Also you can't set a password on the device which is ridiculous insecure. On a network with more people it open to everyone to use the speaker!!!???. …- Written by Willem-Jan V from Utrecht

Impressive box but...
I picked up a Beolit 12 at the Apple store but may return it yet -- I’ve not decided. Let's not kid around, it's an impressive sou nding little box for its weight and portability. It really sings with jazz and vocal, although that's no surprise for B&O. I played a few "lossless" encoded files via Airplay and I was pleased with the sound.
Now let's talk abuot the flaws:
1. This little machine was a pain to set up. I'm pretty tech savvy but this just seemed counter-intuitive to configure. B&O needs to fix this next time because for many people I'd imagine this trouble would result in the Beolit going back in the box and back to the store for a return.
2. Mild "hiss" that doesn't go away. I'm in a small apartment and when this device is on it has a soft "hiss" that doesn't stop. If it is playing music quietly it remains noticeable. I'm going to try to contact B&O to find out if this is normal behaviour. If yes it's going back.
3. Slow start-up time. Every time you turn this machine on it takes forever to connect to the network.
4. No bluetooth or other solution for taking this box to the park, or elsewhere without wifi. I hear people say you can set up a personal hotspot with an iPhone but given how challenging the configuration software is I'm not sure most people would attempt this. I've yet to try.
I still give it 4 stars because of:
-size
-sound
-airport is stable once configured
-ability to pull the AC cord on the fly (like with a laptop) and go without interrupting playback.
-beautiful design …- Written by Iain M from Toronto

Simply stunning sound
Better sound than a Zeppelin Air, to say nothing of competing docks; unlike the pleasant-sounding but ultimately flawed Bose Sound link devices, you won't find dropouts in any part of the audio spectrum.
If you know your music well (from hearing it on truly high quality sources), you'll find nothing missing; if you don't, you will discover entirely new aspects of your favorites that you never knew existed.
Setup was a breeze, with the Beolit acting as an access point for easy configuration, then solidly joining our existing network for airplay usage. It's limited to 2.4 GHz (instead of offering 5GHz wireless N as an option), so microwaves and some wireless phones can cause dropouts, but we've had very good reliability of playback.
What's perhaps most astounding (given the sound) is the unit's size and portability. There is simply nothing else like it. …- Written by Michael F from San Francisco

Will it create its own wifi network for wireless playing when on the go and not connected to a network?
- Asked by Jeremy L from Sherman Oaks
- 30-Jan-2012
Best Answer
Just to clarify this for everyone. Beolit 12 will not create it's own network, nor is it a Bluetooth unit. If you are on the go and want to use the unit wirelessly you can create a "Hotspot" using your Apple iPhone and the Beolit 12 will connect to your own created network from your phone. Wirelessly you will achieve up to 4 hours use but connecting a cable to your iPhone or other iPod will wive up to 8 hours playback. …

Can I use multiple B&O Play Beolit 12 Units throughout the house?
- Asked by Jason C from Round Rock
- 1-Apr-2012
Best Answer
Yes and no. At the moment, you cannot use Apple Airplay to stream to multiple devices from an iOS de vice. However, you can use Airplay with multiple devices using a computer with iTunes as the source. Put simply, you can stream to multiple Beolit 12 units, but only from your computer, not your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. …

Does it come with a remote to turn it on and connect to the network for Airplay?
- Asked by Robert S. K from Milwaukee
- 15-Apr-2012
Best Answer
No remote to turn it on, but once you've established AirPlay connection, your iPhone or iPod Touch I S your remote. What's nice is, the phone's volume syncs with the Beolit's volume, while connected. B&O says all their remotes work with it, but it's really not needed. And the speaker itself is portable, so I don't miss a remote at all. …
