Does not hold iPad 2 properly even when using supplied adapters

    • Written by from APO

Last night I played a gig using my newly purchased iKlip. I have an iPad 2 and installed the adapters as specified. The iKlip was mounted on my microphone stand with the iPad in vertical orientation. In that position, the iPad is supposed to sit on the third side of the clip - on two little "shelves" formed by those arms. The problem that I unfortunately did not notice in time is when using the iPad 2 adapters the iPad is pushed forward in the mount and the little shelves it is supposed to sit on are not long enough. They don't extend to the front of the iPad as shown in the picture, they are over an 1/8 of an inch too short. I didn't notice until it was too late that my iPad was not actually sitting on that part of the iKlip, it was being momentarily held by friction of the other two sides.

A few moments later - when I walked off the stage after set-up - my iPad 2 slipped out of the bottom of the iKlip, hit the stage floor, and the screen shattered.

    Angle of view and rotation

    • Written by from Rossens

Bourght this to read sheet music so need to use it in portrait mode. The distance from the stand is too short to allow the ipad to be inclined back, it needs to be nearly horizonal. Not easy to switch between portrait and lanscape modes - a rotating fixture would be better. Great shame about these 2 gripes as otherwise excellent. Any ideas to allow it to be mounted further from the stand, an extension that rotates perhaps! More

No problem with iPad 2 & SmartCover but OTTER Defender too big

    • Written by from Hamilton

I own an iPad 2 with Speck SmartShell and Apple SmartCover. This product works just fine with both covers installed. A little tricky to get on and off but holds my iPad securely and I can flip/close the SmartCover on top to protect the screen. It is NOT necessary to use the inserts supplied for iPad 2 when you have the SmartShell. However my husband has an OTTER Defender on his iPad 2 and it makes the iPad 2 too large to fit in the iKlip. Good solid product and easy to adjust. More

    iKlip-No quick orientation

    • Written by from Albuquerque

I thought this product would serve me well as a working musician BUT-
    Two massive problems:
    1. No on the fly orientation change. EPIC FAIL! So if you want to go from, say, Moog Filtatron to Animoog, you had better not drink your V8.

2.After the original iPad shape change, iKlips solution was to make plastic clips (klips?) to adapt the product to newer generations; the ipad fits snug, the clips not so much. They are always popping off and you run around looking for them like you dropped your baby's picture.

If you need only one orientation and don't need to take your iPad in and out of the iKlip, then it works. But you know that's practically no one. 2 stars for the thought.

    Survivor Case not compatable

    • Written by from Columbiana

I ordered this online without doing some research. When I opened the box i saw that a had a problem. My iPad which cost 800 bucks is protected by a survivor armored case by Griffin. No way it will fit into this iklip Ipad music stand adapter. No way I will take my case off to risk damage. I would think most people would feel the same since this product is used by musicians sometimes out in the elements.

Big disappointment. I would think the product designers would consider this when designing a product. I looked for an adapter for the iklip and apparently no one makes one.

I will be returning this product for a refund. Does anyone know of any better solutions?
