QuickTime 7 Pro - Thatz Whatz UP!

I Love It! For exporting, editing, converting, etc. When it comes to audio / video (for $30 bucks!) you can't beat QuickTime Pro. I use it mainly for exporting audio into different formats. Simply put, it's a great tool to have in the shed. More

On my new Mac, QT Pro works flawlessly. On my (old) WinTel PC, there was slooow encoding isues, but the Mac version is absolutely perfect. More

    Spectacular

I have tried many media players throughout my computing career, but QuickTime has always been far and away the most reliable. It may sound cliché, but QuickTime brings out all the best qualities of Apple; dependability, efficiency, & a gorgeous interface. My college campus (Washington University in St. Louis) is very Mac-based, so naturally everything integrates seamlessly with everything else. As a Biomedical Engineer (BME), I require fast computing and rendering in both my computer and it's applications. Whenever I have some down time, that is when QuickTime helps us college students out; Watching movies in full screen, making our own hilarious home videos with iSight, or throwing together slideshows with pictures from the weekend. I highly recommend this program to anyone, from professionals to novices, engineers to English majors. Coming from a poor college student, QuickTime Pro 7 is a $30.00 well spent. More

Quicktime 7 Pro vs Quicktime 10

Written by LY from SAINT THOMAS

    19-Dec-2009

Quicktime 7 Pro is so much superior to QT10. I occasionally edit short videos and cut and paste them together and 10 has dropped those capabilities and some other features that makes it impossible to anything but playback video. It's seems faster to use than iMovie and less complicated not that iMovie is that complicated but I prefer to work in QT.

I'm hoping Apple will upgrade QT 10 to a Pro version and add in the features that they removed in QT 7 Pro.

Is it worth $30 bucks? It's definitely healthier than 5 Big Mac meals at the same cost.

    Shortens conversion to .wmv

    Written by BF from Arden

    17-Dec-2009

What I found is that when converting .avi files to .wmv files it removes about 25% of the footage in length. Sucky. Talk about a waste. Figuring this out and wasting a lot of time on what was supposed to be simple little project. Now after experimenting with other editors/converters I have found that do not do this. Lame. More

    not for professionals

It is very cool for some users because it is now more simple to export for ipod, iphone and apple TV. However, the old way to export files was better. We are not able to chose an specific codec anymore... If you need to export a video to a specific editor, such as apple pro res, HDVCPRO, animation, etc, you have to do it on another software, because the new version is limited to some few presets. Good for beginners, bad for professionals... Overall it is cool, but I miss the export options. Hope the new versions can bring it back! More
