    Works for me

    • Written by from Glasgow

I was put off buying this by all the negative reviews but I went ahead and bought it so I could backup my holiday photos while on holiday without having to take my MacBook Pro (instead I could take my far lighter and easier to carry iPad Mini). Works great and it was a great relief to be able to backup holiday snaps.

    Work great

It can't be any easier than this. If your having a problem read instructions! Insert SD card first than connect to iPad.....it works! I took pictures during the day and at night downloaded to iPad.

Getting Device Not Certified Error Message (Solved)

    • Written by from West Chester

Purchased a Lightning to SD Card Reader and plugged it into my iPad Air only to receive an error message stating the reader is not a certified device. Much to my dismay, I then read user reviews on the Apple.com site and other sites complaining about the same experience.

I resolved this problem by returning to the store that sold the card reader and brought both the defective card reader and my iPad Air. We opened the box of another reader. Tested this card reader with the iPad Air and all worked as expected.

Apparently manufacturing defects occur more than we'd like as consumers.

My advice to anyone buying this accessory at a bricks and mortar retail location is to have your iPad with you and do not leave the store until making sure the reader you have connects flawlessly.

    Incopmatible with iPhone 6? Seriously??!!

    • Written by from Las Vegas

With my brand new iPhone 6 Plus and 128 gigs of storage, I was looking forward to having a way to have both on-the-fly backup of my SD card from a high end camera, as well as being able to transfer images to the phone as I do with my iPad Air.

NO GO! And from everything I've read it's not a function Apple supports.

    Seriously??? What the F?

Apple, why do you tie the hands of those who spend good money on your products? You're becoming Big Brother in the very 1984 advertisement that was supposed to be better than everyone else!

Let us use a product that you make for heaven's sake!!!

Does not work with iPhone 6+!

    • Written by from Gregory

I am dismayed to discover this SD Card Camera Reader does not work with my new 6+.

Why does Apple forbid the use of their own SD Card Reader on their flagship iPhone?

I've let Apple know my disappointment at their feedback page and encourage others to do so as well:

It is rubbish with the new ios8

    • Written by from Thurso

Used to work so well on iOS 7. It would put the photos onto the iPad, you could click on all imported and then it would put them in individual folders of the date that you imported them, made it really easy to find the photos you wanted. But now it just outs them into recently added and then any news ones you add wipes the folder with the new uploads.
A update is meant to be a improvement. This has just made it a downgrade in my opinion.

    Works great! NOT for iPhone

    • Written by from San Diego

I have had NO problems at all with this reader. It works great on my Gen 4 iPad. It DOES NOT work with iPhone, so if that's what you need...you're out of luck. Sorry. But other than that, it's just fine!

    It works -(sort of)!!

    • Written by from Ashford

I ordered this first without reading the reviews (doh!). I connected it and it did not work and almost sent it bacK. But then rebooted the iPad mini and it worked fine. It's OK with IOS7, videos JPG and raw images shot with a 64GB card from a Canon EOS700D so no size issues. However it does not seem to work with older SD cards (strange!) . One more thing whether it works or not, it still opens the photos app leaving you wondering what is happening. Also all the one star reviews on this page cannot all be wrong. APPLE PLEASE SORT THESE ISSUES OUT - IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A PRODUCT SO UNRELIABLE.

IF IT WORKS ONLY SOMETIMES IT IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!!

Worked fine for me with SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro

    • Written by from Ostrander

Have thought about buying this reader for some time but finally broke down and got it to take on a trip where I may have to unload images in the field. I have high speed 64 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro cards (SDxc). The unit took a while to load the images in memory for preview but it worked like a charm. Just what I needed.

    Works well, BUT...

    • Written by from albany

sd card reader works fine, imports quickly. great? Not so...you cannot import more than maybe 100 photos before it tells you there is no more space. which makes no sense as a 16gb iPad Air should be able to hold thousands of photos. Option: download to Dropbox or e/m images to yourself and delete what you have imported to make space for new imports? I guess....but shouldn't you be able to import hundreds of photos in the first place? the lightning reader therefor will not be helpful to anyone looking to "dump" their photos each day of vacation. IMHO

It sure took awhile to figure it out...

    • Written by from Hampton

I bought this to transfer photos on my computer to my IPad Air. It wouldn't work. It took a long call to Apple support, after a visit to an Apple store, to find out that you can only transfer photos taken with a "device" onto an SD card and then to the IPad. You can't transfer photos that you download from your computer to the SD card. Why, Apple, Why?

    Works Beautifully for Me!

    • Written by from Middle Village

Game Plan: before I purchase any device, I do my due diligence. I checked here for compatibility, thoughtfully read the reviews, & asked more questions at the Apple Store. Armed with my iPad Air and a 64G SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card from my Sony DSC-HX400V "bridge" camera, I bravely took the following steps:
    1. Made certain that card was not locked
    2. Inserted card into card reader
    3. Opened Photos App
    4. Inserted card reader into the Lightening Port
    5. Selected import
    6. Chose the images, not deleting from card
    7. Removed card reader from port & replaced card into camera
    8. Went on with my life, bombarding friends & family w/my beautiful photos on my beautiful iPad Air
While I agree that "iPad Lightening to Card Reader" would be more helpful on the packaging--especially if you're making your purchase at Big Box stores where they will sell their Grandmothers for commission--I can honestly say that this reader does the job it is meant to do, & quite well.

Not worth the time or money

    • Written by from New port Richey

Wasted gas and time to get this product because of all of the "great" reviews. Worst. I'm a photographer,
I take at least 1000 photos every shoot, or even every hour, especially with kids.. But instead of letting me upload my photos,
I have to basically wipe my ipad of everything (which I did) to make "space". Cool, wipes 8mb and still needed 6 more -_- really?! If your doing a few pictures at a time, awesome, but these days, even vacation photos are gonna up too much space. Apple is losing me more and more every day.

Despite bad reviews, this product works perfectly.

    • Written by from Niverville

Ordered from Apple.ca on a tuesday, and arrived at my front door the same Friday! I was super pleased with FedEx shipping in Canada. Now for the adapter itself, I was a bit skeptical because of all the reviews saying it doesn't work. I'll tell you right now, it works exactly as advertised. I use a 32GB SD card from my Canon ELPH 340, and I slide in the sd card, plug in the adapter, and the photos app launches on my iPad mini, prompting me to import the pictures. I believe the adapter supports only JPEG and .MOV files, but I haven't tested any other files out yet. One last thing I'd like to point out; if you're trying to load up the SD card with movies to watch on your iPad, make sure you place ALL picture/video files in a folder named "dcim" on the SD card, or the iPad may not recognize it. Overall, I'd say even for it's near 50$ price after canadian shipping + taxes, it's still worth it in my book. And if it ever quits working for some reason, there's a 1 year warranty, or I'll bring it into the Apple store in my city.

Lightning to SD Card Camera reader

    • Written by from WATFORD

I bought this today, a bit apprehensive as I read the previous reviews and was ready to return it to the store.

Well, it worked a treat. No sooner connected then all my photos were there ready to be downloaded. Great. In super time too!!!

    NO IPHONE SUPPORT!!! WTH!

    • Written by from Vancouver

I bought this for my 64gb iPhone 5s to unload my photos off my sd card. I assumed this would work for it! It did not support it at all. This is stupid. It's a lightning to SD card reader! I have 64 freaking gigabytes of memory! What's the point of having so mic space if I cannot use this. I'm mad that apple limits this to only iPads... It should by iPad SD card reader.. Not lighting.

    Amazing

    • Written by from ScHENECTADY

I was amazed by the negative reviews that I had read regarding this accessory, I was having second thoughts before buying it. Finally I made up my mind and decided to try it in the store before purchasing.

I have an iPad air and I use a canon 60D and I only shoot in RAW. It is super simple, super fast, even when dealing with RAW images. The iPad was able to identify all of the pictures (even all the videos in my case although the store said It won't be able to deal with videos, but lucky me right? =D). The import process was easy and fast considering the size of RAW images. I was able to deal with the RAW images in all of the supported applications with no issue at all. The only annoying thing that I had found (which is only a preference related issue) is that the iPad after importing the pictures ask whether you want to delete the imported pictures where in the first couple of times I deleted the pictures by mistake from my SD Card (I would prefer if apple added an option where people can choose to not get this question).

I don't understand the issue with all of the other reviewers and if some of them are just dissing this accessory so consumers can focus on other 3rd party accessories.

This is a must buy for all photographers like me who were sick of being forced to include a laptop in the process of editing and posting pictures.
