    Terrible Product

    • Written by from Kalamazoo

The mouse does not open links correctly. Once you click it gives you dialogue box similar to a right click that you cant click off of. The scrolling touch mouse does not work either. WORST APPLE PRODUCT EVER.

Pretty sweet mouse. Kind of pricey for what you get.

I initially bought the mouse when I had a college dorm, and I loved it. It looked great on my desk, and functioned wonderfully. I had only one problem with it. I got Half-Life 2 for my 13" Macbook Pro, and while using the mouse was a lot easier than the touchpad, it seemed to have hypersensitive scrolling, which changes weapons in Half-Life and produces an annoying buzz due to the weapons changing so fast. Even with the scrolling sensitivity all the way down, with a slight slide, it would scroll a few pages worth of normal scrolling.

Then I transfered to a different college, and moved into an apartment. My table (my stand in desk for now) has a glass top, so the mouse doesn't work on it. I didn't really expect an optical mouse to work on a clear surface, but I thought this thing was "Magic".

Other than those two minor issues, it really is a great mouse. I would recommend buying it. The price is a little steep, but you get what you pay for. Every gesture seems natural, its very sturdy, and it should last a long time. My only question I have about it still is... "Will it blend?"

    A Must Have

    • Written by from Danville

Just received the Apple Magic Mouse 2 days ago. Bought it so I could use my MacBook Pro with a monitor and have the laptop closed. Unbelievable, if you have any doubts (which I had), please try it. It works seamlessly, the clicks are accurate and even the right click feature works very well. Couldn't be happier with this mouse.

    Battery life disappointment

    • Written by

I bought my Magic Mouse on 21st JUne 2011 and absolutely love it BUT am just about to change the batteries for the second time. I am energy aware and turn off appliances when not in use.

I notice that battery life is not mentioned in the specification. Silly me, I just thought it would be superior to the other wireless mice on the market.

Come on Mac Wizards 5 weeks for two AA+ alkaline is really pathetic.

    The best mouse for macs

    • Written by from Copenhagen

I looove my Magic Mouse. Its seamless scrolling and regal multi-touch gestures works like a charm. I was disappointed by the battery life, and it is prone to fail if you abuse it, but it is worth it all. It is quite simply the best mouse for the mac.

I love this mouse and would never use another! Works really smoothly. Only downside is it burns through batteries pretty quickly

No expose function! Huge let down.

    • Written by from Runcorn

When I first saw the magic mouse I was really excited, it made total sense and I could see how easy it could make tasks. So I went down to an apple retail store to test the magic mouse. It really is a fantastic device and it was comfortable and easy to use. The multi touch controls work perfectly and really make scrolling through music, photos and web pages a joy. One of the problems with the scroll ball of the mighty mouse is that dirt gets trapped in the space around the ball and stops it working effectively, obviously this will never be a problem with the magic mouse.

But then after I had opened a few windows it hit me, there were no side buttons for expose. I asked an advisor if this could be programmed onto the multi touch gestures or something and I was told that the function was not programmable as of yet. I tried using the mac with expose set to a hot corner and simply using the shortcut on the keyboard but believe it's not the same as having the function on the mouse. It's such a let down that apple hasn't considered ways of having this function on the magic mouse when almost every mac user the world over has become accustom to using expose to navigate their mac workspace. Now I can clearly see where their expose integration with the dock application icons idea has come from, it was to try and make life easier without the side buttons.

I decided not to buy the magic mouse because I really would find the lack of functionality in it frustrating when I am using my mac for long periods of time. Also although it is a minor issue there is no longer a shortcut to the dashboard on the magic mouse. Previously you would click the scroll ball to activate it but you will now have to click the application icon or press the short cut key on the keyboard.

In the end if you can live without dashboard and expose functions on your mouse this is fantastic, otherwise wait until apple comes up with a solution and adds a gesture to the mouse that activates them, which I'm sure they will in the future.

If you still prefer to click!

    • Written by from Bournemouth

Despite some of the bad reviews, I went ahead and bought the magic mouse on the basis that I still prefer to hold, move and click something solid!

I guess if you're used to the trackpads of laptops then the trackpad will be more suitable, but if like me you love to click then this is an awesome product.

It feels real nice to hold (it's not designed to hug to your palm as your palm sits in a curved state naturally, instead just the tips of your fingers and the base of your palm rest on it's super smooth surface)

The gestures are valuable in Lion, I'm still quite new to the mac so still learning little tricks but since getting the magic mouse i've used functions not used before because they become so simple! (i'm guessing the same for trackpad on this one too)

The laser and bluetooth combination too make for seamless function. easy to set up and no jerkiness in the cursor movement unlike my previous mouse that used a USB dongle to connect kept sticking and freezing.

Conclusion, an essential apple product (unless you like to point the cursor with your finger, then get the trackpad), worth every penny in comparison to previous models.

    Best mouse ever

    • Written by from Pierrefonds

I don't why some people give poor reviews to this mouse--it's excellent! The battery life is good and I use it daily, and the thing works better than most other devices that I have tried--smooth, and comfy at the same time. The finish is superb too and it still looks brand new like ti came out of the box, and I have had it for more than a year now.

    How about a cabled version?

    • Written by from Brobyværk

It uses batteries way too fast.
And now it doesn't even work after only 4 months of use.
Multi scroll and multi finger functions are precise. I just wish I could get a cabled version. I don't feel a short cable connected to my cabled keyboard is too much clutter.
It makes a lighter mouse, with out the hassle of battery changes.

    Not the Quality I Expected

    • Written by from Sterling

I do a lot of formatting work in documents, so I need a mouse. I also have tendonitis in both wrists. This mouse is comfortable, but I've only had it about 40 days and have had to change the batteries twice already--ridiculous! Also, the mouse goes wonky. Not zippy mouse, more stuck mouse. The way an optical mouse does if something gets in the optic part. Only there's nothing in this. Not impressed, and Apple impressed me with everything else when I bought my MacBook Air.

    Too flat!

    • Written by from Boston

I so wanted to take to this mouse like a duck to water. But instead of having that "Apple" moment as I have done with so many of their other products (I'm talking about that "Why hasn't anyone done this before? It feels so natural!" moment) I instead found that the mouse just didn't sit nicely in the palm of my hand. I tried to gloss over this and enjoy the intuitive gestures and features, but all I could think about was how uncomfortable it felt to use. It is far too flat!!!

If you want a good idea of how it is to use without having to try/buy it, just get out your iphone/ipod touch and pretend it's your mouse. You can then practice the gestures as well, and if you are like me (and I do not have massive hands or anything) you will find the uncomfortable hand grip due to the lack of depth to this mouse to be just plain off-putting.

What's more, if you fingers are slightly sweaty, the gestures can be a bit tricky to execute (especially the sideways swipes). The thin design doesn't help when trying to grip the mouse to execute said gestures as well. Again, you can practice this with your iphone.

I'm so disappointed, as a nice shiny new mouse is exactly what I want right now, but I do not think I can live with the magic mouse with it's current ergonomics.

Please bring out a slightly chunkier model Apple!!!

    Decent mouse

    • Written by from London

I wanted a mouse to use as an alternative to the trackpad on my Macbook Pro and so went for the (very attractive imho) magic mouse. The ergonomics took a little bit of getting used to, but I now find it comfortable to use. The mouse is great for navigating in Safari and OS X Lion.

    Terrible Mouse

    • Written by from Guildford

This has to be the worst, most useless mouse I have EVER used. The "magic" touch sensitive mouse seemingly has a mind of its own, the slightest nudge can cause whatever you're working on to scroll (or zoom) out of view, and there doesn't appear to be a setting to alter the sensitivity of it. Also ergonomically it just does not feel good at all, along with the tiny cramp inducing keyboard.

    Better than anything else

    • Written by from Bodmin

Having been a PC Gamer for many years I have used more mice with more configurations, sizes and designs than the majority of computer users.
The Magic Mouse is perhaps one of the best mice ever created for those that want to do anything except gaming.

It feels great in the hand, the surface is perfect for scrolling with and the battery lasts pretty well considering all it is capable of.

However, it is the most atrocious device for any kind of gaming. If you intend to play games on your Mac then have a second, gaming specific mouse for this kind of use.

I got the Magic Mouse for my birthday and i have used it every day since! Its wireless, which is great! There are no cords, no usb thing to stick in the computer. It uses bluetooth, which is awesome! I love all the cool features it uses! I plan on using this mouse every day!
