    Great value for money

    • Written by from LAUNCESTON

This was easy to set up, was on my network in minutes. has great sound, not muddy bass like some of these all-in-one speakers. Does drop out occasionally for a few seconds at a time but speakers plugged into my airport express do that too. Think it's when the wifi signal isn't strong enough. Glad I bought it!

    Returned to store for refund

    • Written by from Leatherhead

As other reviewers have stated the AirPlay is a great idea but this particular speaker simply wasn't compatible. Music constantly kept dropping out every few minutes despite changing its location. Looking online this seems to be a common occurrence. Philips even list the problem on their website but nothing they suggested worked.

We have tried it with an iPad (1st edition), an iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5. All three had the same connectivity issues with AirPlay.

Taken back and refund received. I simply cannot recommend this product despite following absolutely every instruction perfectly. When sound came out it was of a very good quality. Hopefully they will sort this out one day once and for all.

Make sure your wifi network is good

    • Written by from London

Had problems staying connected to my network (despite fiddling with different channels on router to find one not being used by neighbours in our block of flats) - it would cut out so frequently (wouldn't even last for one song before doing so) that I ended up tethering the iPod to it which defeats the purpose. Fast-forward 9 months and I moved the machine to the other side of the room (away from an exterior wall which was semi-blocking the path to the wireless router) and it works perfectly!?

I would have returned the machine to the Apple store months ago if I could have been bothered - but simply moving the machine to a location where it could get a stronger signal/connection to my router did the trick - stupid of me I know...

Anyway I'm writing this in case it helps anyone else in a similar situation. Happy holidays!

Now my house is un-wired for sound.

    • Written by from Capalaba

These speakers sound great. I just bought my 3rd one and now my house is un-wired for sound. They will definitely get a workout at my next party.

It was a bit of a pain to have have to set them up individually and not just be able to add them to my existing network. But totally worth it in the end!

    Great sound, occasionally drops out.

    • Written by from Nuneaton

The sound of this dock is incredible, especially for the price, the bass is deep, and the mids and highs are very crisp. The only problem I have has with it is that the signal occasionally drops out, usually only for a few seconds. Streaming YouTube sound from it is also very good but with long videos, it does regularly drop out.

Overall I would definetly recommend it.

    Bad speaker, bad iOS 'upgrade'.

    • Written by from brisbane

"It plays wirelessly from the iTunes program on your computer, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch".... I wish! THERE IS NO LONGER AN ITUNES PROGRAM ON MY BRAND NEW IPAD 3! The new 'music' and 'video' players installed as part of the new iOS are awful - inability to make video playlists = having to search for videos and hit play at the end of each clip = make this speaker redundant. Constant drop outs just add to the frustration. Save your money and your sanity.

    Will not stay connected

    • Written by from BILLERICAY

This product is unusable. Despite using all the latest iOS across all our Apple products it just keeps dropping out every few minutes. The AD7000W then has to be power cycled before being able to connect again.

The AD7000W sits 5 metres from our router and I've tried countless configurations (routers, iPhones, iPods, iOS) without success.

    Very Stylish

    • Written by from London

Great speaker. Very stylish, high quality materials and finish. Puts many higher priced speakers to shame. Had problems initially with my iPhone 4S - it would drop connection after few minutes, however, it was resolved with new versions of iOS. Never had problems with iPad 2 and iMac. Connection stays for hours with no drop-outs. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an AirPlay speaker.
Just a note to anyone who is having problems connecting to the speaker to theirs' WiFi network - make sure that your network name does not have any spaces in it.

    Cannot recommend

    • Written by from Deerfield

Sound it great when it works, but, when it does not work, I feel like throwing it in the trash.

Something as technically trivial as maintaining a solid connection with a top of the line Cisco N router with the remote device less than 20 feet from the router should be easy.

The connection drops when not in use. Trying to reconnect requires several tries.

Music drop outs are common when in use with an iOS current v Airplay app. If the product is about 40 feet from the router, drop outs are so frequent and severe, it renders the speaker unusable.

This product feels like a beta.

    Absolutely useless

    • Written by from Westbury-on-Trym

Speakers were never able to connect to my network through my router, and the telephone help centre clearly only had the manual (that I had read more thoroughly than them) open in front of them. Eventually gave up on airplay and plugged iPod in directly - frequently stopped playing and eventually wouldn't play at all. Takes about 3 minutes to start itself up and has an ugly bright blue light when switched on - impossible to sleep with the light so couldn't use iPod as an alarm, one of the reasons I wanted iPod speakers.
I eventually took them back and replaced with the far superior Bose docking station - not airplay but plays from my iPod, which is all I wanted.

    Great sound but ....

    • Written by from Sydney

Great sound but very disappointing and frustrating. It didn't seem to be compatable with time machine. It connected and I got it set up pretty quickly. It was fine for a few songs but then started dropping out. After several hours of trouble shooting it was packed up and returned. Plus the Phillips app made especially for it caused he music to stop and disconnect, plus made my iphone freeze, even after removing and downloading several times.

BTW An annoying feature of AirPlay is that you have to disconnect from the Internet to connect with the speakers. If you want to play on your iPad on the net and listen to music your stuffed, no can do.

    PERFECT small speaker system.

    • Written by from Sydney

The key selling point is the airplay... it is by far the best way to get you music from you mac, ipod, ipad, iphone to a speaker because it streams over your wifi network not bluetooth so it doesn't need to be in the same room as the player.

    The bottom line...
Sounds great, airplay is truly amazing, compact, discreetly styled, easy to setup and use. Worth every cent... Buy one!

    Great Simple Airplay Speaker

    • Written by from HARTLEPOOL

At this point in time this is one of the cheapest AirPlay speakers available. It's a very compact offering and looks beautiful for a speaker. I traded in my Sonos System to go to AirPlay after having endless issues with dropping zones and accessing NAS drives with the Sonos. I have to say that the AirPlay is far easier and almost as flexible. This particular speaker is certainly as good as a Sonos Play:3 speaker and setup is less than 5 minutes (if you read the quick start sheet). I've only given it 4 stars because I still believe the AirPlay speakers are a little over priced and £200 (£180 if you shop around) is a little steep, I'd say this is more a £150 speaker but if you want to make a start with an AirPlay setup this is a great place to start.

    Not compatible with AirPort Routers...

    • Written by from Redfern

Bought one of these to be a speaker solution for my backyard. Sadly the Apple sales guys didn't know they're incompatible with Apple's own routers! A bit of hunting around the Net tells the same story.

The AD7000 will happily connect directly to iOS devices (not 4Gs though) and Macs wirelessly, so if that's all you want it for the sound is surprisingly good for the price. Just a shame it can't connect to AirPlay over Apple's own network devices...

Great speaker but not for Airplay

    • Written by from Sydney

Great little speaker. Quality sound but had to return mine because it couldn’t connect to my network. Tried everything and spoke to tech support twice. No luck. According to Phillips they’ve had similar complaints. Real shame but I bought it for Airplay so back it went.

    Brilliant little airplay speaker

    • Written by from Brisbane

This is an awesome little unit. Highly recommend it!

Perfect size for bedside table, bookshelf, desk top, where ever you want. Not imposing like a Zeppelin Air or other large speaker.

The sound quality is brilliant. Currently I have it set up in the office. 60m square open plan studio; it's down the other end of the room, and it sounds perfect over 5 people working. No distortion, great treble and amazing bass from such small package. Tried a couple of different genres, from pop, hip hop to heavy rock. All sound great.

The design is fantastic too. Clean and understated, not looking like some alien offspring. Exactly what you want. Brushed metal on top, black all over.

Set up was easy using my iPhone navigating to a web interface. Took all of 2 minutes to set up to get tunes in the office.

I highly recommend getting one! For $250 AU you can't go wrong. Great sound, great design, great price.

Ive had the speaker for 3 days now and still havnt been able to connect it to my network. Tried customer support who, alarmingly Wer'nt even aware it was selling in Australia yet. I'm hoping that I'll find a solution in the next couple of days otherwise it's going back. Dissapointing.
