The 3 year warranty and included firewire 800 cable is nice too. My only complaint is that the price is a little high. …

So Far so Good!
After some research I decided to go with this drive to back up both my MacBook Pro and my girlfriend's Acer net book. The Mac is After some research I decided to go with this drive to back up both my MacBook Pro and my girlfriend's Acer net book. The Mac is running Lion and the Acer is on Window's 7. I had no problem using disk utility to partition the drive for use on both systems. The Western Digital knowledge base had step by step instructions on how to partition the drive. Very happy. …

Great plug and play solution.
I bought this as a back up drive for my MacBook Air and as a solution to go between my MacBook Air and my MacBook Pro. (I keep the I bought this as a back up drive for my MacBook Air and as a solution to go between my MacBook Air and my MacBook Pro. (I keep the Air at home, the Pro is my office laptop.) So far, this little drive has been great - it's easy to use if you want to drag and drop individual folders, also works great as a Time Machine. I have all my iTunes and iPhoto libraries stored on it and it works seamlessly between my two machines. The Firewire connection works nice and fast to drag and drop, it only took about an hour to back up all my music, movies, photos, etc. I'll also be using this to store all my old stuff from my iDisk before the end of the month when the service is discontinued. …

Not an issue with the drive but Apple's warranty policy
I purchased a 2TB version of this drive from the Apple Online Store (i.e. where you are right now) in Nov 2012.
It is now May 201 I purchased a 2TB version of this drive from the Apple Online Store (i.e. where you are right now) in Nov 2012.
It is now May 2013 and the drive has started making clicking noises and taking forever to mount. I rang the Apple Store and they said that I have to take it up with Western Digital.
I have received an RMA from Western Digital but have to return it to them in Indonesia - at my expense!
If I had bought it at Officeworks or JB Hi Fi they would have organised ar repair or - most likely - replaced it on the spot.
My hard luck I guess but this is just another downside of buying online! …

1 year and still running great
I purchased this to do a time machine backup of my Macbook when I sold the Macbook and upgraded(?) to a Mac-Mini. Did a time machi I purchased this to do a time machine backup of my Macbook when I sold the Macbook and upgraded(?) to a Mac-Mini. Did a time machine restore on the late 2009 Mac-Mini without incident. Turned the drive into my iTunes data drive right after and have 900+gb of data on it that is completely reliable, haven't had to do any maintenance tasks on the drive at all. Recently upgraded the late 2009 Mac-Mini to a Mid 2011 Mac-Mini and data integrity still there and the machine runs 24/7/365 still without issue.
Yes, it runs hot but the aluminum case dissipates that well. I'm using the Firewire 800 connectivity and for me this drive has been reliable and solid for a year. I would recommend this drive based on my experience with it. …

Good Looks-Great speed!!! Awesome!!!
I already have a 500 GB hard drive for Time machine backups. However, It is not wise to have a single back up, so I bought this f I already have a 500 GB hard drive for Time machine backups. However, It is not wise to have a single back up, so I bought this for an extra back up (documents and Movies etc).
The looks are great. Feels and looks like a premium quality product.
Does not look cheap AT ALL!!!
It is compact (as compared to seagate 1 TB I bought, but had to return because it would not accept .screenflow format files. Did not have this issue with WD 1 TB drive at all).
With firewire 800 connection, transfer of files that would take 2 hours or so to transfer , would take ONLY 22 minutes. THis is a GREAT feature. Previously I would have to put it on transfer/backup in my study (I cant take drive out of my room because my 3 year old would take it off the computer and I cant guard it for 2 hours or so). So this short backup/ transfer time is a BIG PLUS!!!!
No issues so far.
I read about people complaining that Mac did not recognize it . If my memory serves right, I think they were using a 400 Firewire cable to connect to Firewire 800 on drive with some sort of adapter. Whatever the case, at least I did not have a single issue with this drive. My Macbook Pro (2011 Feb) recognised it INSTANTLY and I simply "copied" and "pasted" my WHOLE DOCUMENTS folder (66.7 GB) onto it and transfer was DONE (22 min)!!!!!
Highly recommended!!!! …
