Ratings & Reviews

  • Cashbook is a great product

    5.0 out of 5 stars

Cashbook is really a great program. i have a small business and recently switched to Macs. i've spent years on a PC running quickb ooks and have nothing bad to say about it. But I'm very happy i have switched to Mac and Cashbook. I do not do any invoicing and really didn't need most of the features in Quickbooks. All i do is track income and expenses and Cashbook is perfect for that. I do over a million dollars a year, and i do need a balance sheet and statements of income. All i do is enter deposits and checks and all my financials appear. it's so easy that it's fabulous. i have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone looking for business accounting.

  • Fantastic Software!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I resisted becoming a Mac user for years. Why have one system at work and have to learn another one at home? What a mistake…should have converted eons ago! The Mac is so intuitive and easy to use. So when the same friend was raving about Moneyworks Cashbook and recommended that I use it also I wasn’t going to make that same mistake. Not having any accounting background I have admit it was a little confusing at first. (I’ve being maintaining all my personal finances on Excel spreadsheets for years.) I called the support line and wow what a pleasant surprise. Actually got to talk to a real live person right away and they were terrific. Spent about 30 minutes with me, walking me thru the basics. (and said to call back anytime!!) I literally spent all the next day entering in my information from 2010 and now I have it at my fingertips. The Financial reports are updated automatically and the totals can be viewed in an instant. It really is a fabulous program, easy to use and way better than the excel spreadsheets. I would definitely recommend this software to anyone wishing a simple accounting system to track their income and expenses.

We have used this software (version 5) for our small business since 2008. It took a while to become familiar with some of the diff erences in terminology. However the software is reliable, intuitive and easy to use. We have tried some of the recently released competitors products now available in Canada but have decided to stay with Moneyworks. Our business is expanding and we will be moving up to MoneyWorks ver. 6 Gold starting this month.

  • Not the Best I've Used

    2.0 out of 5 stars

MoneyWorks Cashbooks Version 6.0 is not the best program I've used for small business accounting purposes. Unfortunately it is one of the few available to Mac users. The help files refer to menus that don't exist or are several layers down, without explanation of how to navigate there. Option buttons mentioned in the help files don't exist on the pages or on other pages yet to be found by me.
The whole program is very awkward to use. The math is correct, but the mandatory use of monthly accounting periods is archaic. Most newer software I've used automatically handle the monthly accounting periods. Which means with the other programs I spend less time correcting postings than I do correcting those accidentally made in the wrong period but entered with the correct date in MoneyWorks. I think one could at least a warning if the date and the period don't match!
Printing cheques is still a mystery to me. I've had to resort to printing the cheques in another program and just posting them in MoneyWorks.
