    Don't buy - useless!

    • Written by from Mount Pritchard

Please don't buy this keyboard guard! ! bought it today with my new macbook pro 13" retina display. The guard fits the keyboard but it's very flimsy and flutters/moves when you type. It also makes typing slower because when you try to tap a letter, the guard moves slightly, making it difficult. I do not recommend it at all. I really want my money back. Useless.

Does not fit MacBook Pro 13" retina

    • Written by from Riverside

When I bought it, this was advertised as fitting all macbook pros, even the 13" retina. I found that it does not sit properly in the well around the keyboard and because of that was not flush with the keys. it was essentially unusable. i hope they come up with one for the macbook 13" retina soon!

not worth the money 0 *'s

    • Written by from Santa Fe

I purchased the Moshi clear guard keyboard protector, palm guard palm rest protector, and the IVisor pro matte screen protector for my new macbook pro. The fit of the palm guard rest and the iVisor were off by 1/16 of an inch. I trimmed the palm guard rest and didn't even bother to try and get the iVisor to fit. The palm guard has now been on my computer for 3 weeks and is coming off. The keyboard protector works best when not on the computer. When on the computer, it makes the computer fill like an old mechanical typewriter. If I could I would give this companies products

    Definitely not worth the money

    • Written by from Chapel Hill

I bought two of these, one for me and one for my wife's MacBook Pro. The protector does fit well, protects your keyboard, and does exactly what you would expect it to do. However, it starts to get "cloudy" after just a short time, I tried washing it like the instructions say but it didn't help. This cloudiness makes the keyboard look absolutely horrible and makes it more difficult for the backlights to shine through. If you're going to get a keyboard protector buy from a differenet manufacturer.

Poor fit on my MacBook Pro 4.1(Penryn)

    • Written by from Seattle

The Moshi Clearguard protector is a sloppy fit on my 2008 MBP. It is totally useless except as a dust cover.. cannot use if typing. I purchased this based on the product description which stated it is for a MBP. I should have investigated with greater care and emailed customer care for more info. Apple or Moshi should provide better info on their initial product description so customers don't waste time and money on the wrong product. Perhaps stating the year of the MBP laptop... e.g 2008, early 2009 etc etc... I purchased a Moshi Clearguard CS a couple years ago for my Apple wireless keyboard; that cover is a perfect fit and stays in place during use. I tried the Clearguard CS/wireless protector on my MBP 2008/Penryn but it does not fit either. Same problem with slop that prevents use while typing. Only solution I can think of is to purchase another wireless keyboard and put a permanent dust cover over my MBP laptop keyboard...

    It really change your mac...

    • Written by from milano

i bought the moshi clearguard for my macbook pro 13 and is really a terrible feeling to use it.

First of all the price is sick considering that is a piece of silicon and nothing more.

U lose all the amazing touch of the keyboard cause it became harder to push and if you type fast you keep loosing letters.

At the end after a few weeks i put it back on the box and there i ll let it..

    Not worth it

    • Written by from Washington

This was always in the way. The typing felt weird and I was not used to it so it made me make a lot of typos. Also, every time I closed my lid and then opened it it would stick to the screen and I would always have to readjust it. Not worth it.

    Terrible!!

    • Written by from Astoria

I recently bought this at the mac store, and it's the worst protector ever. The plastic constantly collects dust and other stuff and is always dirty and requires me cleaning it. I don't recommend it.

    Too thick

    • Written by from Plainfield

It is very hard to press the keys, making it look like I could not spell or type after 30 years. Also, the natural oils from my fingers started transferring to the screen. I found it easier to just remove the thing and go without. It is much easier to clean my keyboard and screen than try to deal with this product.

    Lasts about as long as...

    • Written by from Richmond Hill

you decide to wash it. The keyboard protector was good for two says or so, but quickly starts to pick up dust and finger markings which show quite clearly because of the clear color. The protector also leaves keyboard impressions when you close your screen and when you try to wash it as directed on the package (light detergent and a wet cloth), there ends up being splotches on the product which also affects the backlighting of your keyboard. If you buy this product, you will probably have to replace it every week as cleaning is not an option. Definitely not worth the price and the product does not last.

Typing with this is so frustrating. It's just too thick to type with any kind of speed. If only it as thinner. I wish I could take it back, but I threw away the packaging. ugh...

    Not for MacBooK Air13"

    • Written by from Utrecht

I bought this product for my MacBook Air 13”. It feels clumsy and increasing typing errors. I found there’s gape between Keyguard and keys. This could be the reason why Keyguard doesn’t work well. Also, this product is not so thin as they said. It’s 0.2mm not 0.1mm.

Skin gets irrecoverably clouded after use

    • Written by from Wilmington

Used to protect my new 2012 MBA, looks nice when new, however, the often-used keys exhibited cloudiness when looked against light, which cannot be restored by cleaning with mild detergent. Like what has been mentioned, slows down typing speed as fingers need to aim at the centre of the covered keys for typing ease. Pressing off-centre causes some resistance due to the vertical skin molding, requiring significantly more effort to press down fully.

    Advice.

    • Written by from Independence

I read the reviews before I purchased it. I noticed it was split about 50/50 good/bad. I decided I'd go ahead and try for myself because though, yes, it's expensive --if I liked it it would be more than worth it.

Now that I have it on my keyboard, I absolutely think that anyone who said they liked it works for the company or "bird peck" types. If you know how to type and are capable and successfully type more than 15 words/minute there factually is no way you can like this produce.

I'm open to the idea that maybe there are "bad batches" or something, but the product I received in the mail is nearly impossible to type with. Every other key you press you find yourself dragging the previous letter with you.

If by any chance the manufacturer or someone with a say in the development of this product cares enough to read these reviews, please take this following, seemingly simple solution to the problem that all people capable of typing are inevitably going to encounter: Tinker with the idea of putting some sort of mild adhesive in between every few keys! The Apple keyboard layout is ideal for putting a small strip of adhesive gel (perhaps a thin layer of the sticky, rubbery feeling sticky stuff they stick paper advertisements to DVD's with). A thin layer of that is plenty sticky enough to resolve our issue --but is designed to not leave behind a residue.

I think the idea of this product is great, and if you could redesign it to stay on while typing fast it would be perfect. But if you expect, or have an ideal that someone should choose between protecting their keyboard and being productive you're sadly mistaken. 1. That doesn't have to be a choice, I feel this issue could easily be resolved. 2. People WON'T make that choice in your favor!

    • Written by from hong kong

    look nice, almost invisible.
but it turns out making the keys harder.
i have to type *MUCH* harder, which causes my fingers tired and pain.
this product ruins the comfort of macbook. and it brings me more typos, too.
    good for leisure user maybe...
but definitely not suitable for developer which have to do coding on your mac.
    regret.

Maybe I'll get used to it, but so far...

    • Written by from Savannah

This thing slips all over the place! Every keystroke shifts it out of position; I'm using it out of sheer stubborness now, because I spent the money and don't want to think it was a total waste. Yes, I've used a keyboard cover before and loved it, in fact I can't remember ever having to reposition it except when I took it off the keyboard for cleaning. I forget the brand, but it was a slightly thicker, heavier translucent silicone. The weight is probably what kept it in place, and it held so well that it became virtually unnoticeable.

I bought the Moshi based on reviews here. Maybe I have a different typing style than most people, but for me this is turning out to be more trouble than it's worth.
