Great sound. Charges phone while you listen

    • Written by from Harmony

Love it. Only drawback I can see is that you need to remove your phone from the case (if you use a case that is).

    Best Sound

    • Written by from Homer

I own two Bose docks for the iPod. One is in the garage, where I putter for long hours, and the other is beside my MacBook Pro in the office. I hardly know what to think of people who criticize the sound these small units produce. Full range, no distortion, room-filling - just great sound! I have to be careful in the garage not to turn the unit up so loud that it disturbs the neighbors, and the fact that it sound so good at high volume - well, it speaks volumes. It isn't the cheapest way to play music, but if you like really good sound, this is as good as it gets.

    Eventually kills battery

    • Written by from Huntersville

First, I LOVE my Bose speaker! The only problem is, the ipod constantly charges while it is in the dock. This actually reduces the battery life. The iPod I use in the speaker no longer holds a charge. Unless its plugged in, the iPod won't make it through a whole song now.

That being said, I like the speaker enough that I got a second iPod and the older one is dedicated to the speaker. Kind of a pain but worth it!

    Forget it! Go Logitech

    • Written by from SYLVANIA

As owner of previous BOSE ipod speakers and 2 lots of Logitech, I am about to buy the Logitech Rechargeable S715i Speaker. My original BOSE speaker was repaired twice as the weight of the speaker pulled away from the base holding the ipod. my newer one did the same although designed to hold the iphone. having read reviews elsewhere, i am not the only one to have this problem. seems an actual BOSE design problem. Never had problems with the LOGItech and one set travelled overseas with us many times over 5 years - eventually went to my daughter. Have the next model down from the one I am going to purchase and it is still going. will probably go to my other daughter. The difference in cost makes BOSE overpriced for what they offer. My BOSE rarely left the kitchen bench so speaker shouldnt have come apart. My husband actually fixed one lot that had been repaired and someone at the factory had failed to put on a couple of screws. Poor service too. Overpriced for what they are. will not be bothering with BOSE in any form again. Hope this helps you to save money.

    Brilliant!

This is the most amazing speaker, at least that's what my ears are telling me. The sound is so true to life that sometimes I get freaked out thinking someone else is with me. Simply put, in my words "The Bose Knose"

Great system, but had personal problems

    • Written by from Westford

i got the bose sounddock II for my birthday a while ago and its fantastic! compatible with all iPods that ive tried on it, ive had a touch 1st gen, 2nd, and now 4th on it and they have all charged unlike my last speaker system which upon connecting my iPod displayed the message "This device is not compatible to charge your iPod". as far as sound goes, ive never owned better. for the price it supplies a very good sound even at high volumes or any EQs that i choose on my itouch. sure, the whole price issue "if it was $199" but if u look around all the systems on this cite are a tad overpriced, so for the cheapest bose sounddock advertised on apple, it packs a nice punch. the only issue i am now facing which caused me to write this review is that i just purchased a very nice, very sleek Otterbox case for my itouch. it just came out for the 4th gen and i was very excited to get it. i even pre-ordered it. when it came i went to charge it and the ipod with the case on it does not fit in the holster, so if you are one to buy bulky cases for an iphone or itouch, this one isn't for you.

    Very pleased

    • Written by from Grand Falls

I bought this unit for the kitchen, for music when we're entertaining or cooking. It was a breeze to set up - just plugged in my iPod Nano and enjoyed. The sound is full with decent bass and clean highs. The remote "wakes up" the iPod when we're ready for music. The power brick is a bit of a pain due to its size, but the dock itself does not take up much counter space. Tone settings for bass and treble are done using the iPod's EQ. Overall, very pleased with our purchase!

    fantastic!

I just purchased the Bose SoudDockll today and it absolutely lives up to the Bose reputation. It plays the music applications I have on my iphone with amazing sound quality and clarity. And yes, it does play Pandora as long as you want to listen to it...I've been listening to it all day...may I suggest Otis Redding :-) If you are hesitating purchasing...don't. You will not be sorry, promise.

    AMAZED

    • Written by from Dunstable

I have always wanted a Bose pair of speakers, as i have an iPhone 3GS; all of the other speakers I have had (JBL) have the interference buzz, but no! Not these.
The bass and treble on it is amazing, such clear vocals too!
Well worth the money. Not only do they look stylish but sound amazing, and are very loud.
    I would defiantly recommend!

Appropriately Priced - For the discerning Ear

    • Written by from Edmonton

As always with BOSE, you get what you pay for. It's not so much the components but rather the way that they interact together that makes these speakers great. Similar to an apple computer, the parts "Just Work" together. I would suggest trying them out in the store before purchasing to be sure that these are the right speakers for you.

You can't hear the difference by reading online reviews so don't put your faith into uninformed, blatantly brand based and opinionated "reviews". As with any purchase that will effect the quality of your day-to-day life you should experience the product in person. Try these speakers out for yourself in the store. Decide from there if having superior quality is worth the $300 price tag or if you are fine with speakers that are significantly less expensive and still of decent quality.

It's apparent that a few of these reviews have been written by advertising bodies who are in direct competition with BOSE. Disregard the "Word of mouth" that you find online as a good portion of it is written by manufacturers. Apple would not charge $300 for speakers with horrible quality let alone use valuable presentation space in apple stores to an inferior product. Nobody would buy them.

Awful sound, expensive, doesn't even have specs listed.

    • Written by from CHICAGO

I was so disappointed when I turned it on. It sounded hollow, like an old transistor radio. I don't understand: why all the good reviews? I returned it and bought the JBL 400P. Lightyears better - immediate difference. Notice that the Bose system doesn't have any specs listed on the site; my guess is because the specifications are not impressive and need to be hidden. The specs were not listed even in the owner's manual when I received the product! The smaller, lighter, and more affordable JBL speaker actually has a subwoofer built in, which I found odd for such a small unit, so I decided to order that one instead. Wow, what a difference!

Works great - Costs great. Spend less, get less.

I have the normal one (series 1 perhaps?). It is the one which has a rotating base on it and silver metal and black backing.. Anyway, mine charges my iPhone 3GS just fine, and I can play movies, iTunes, whatever through it etc.. not sure what the other problems that people seem to be having are?

Really expensive, but for what it is it's worth it. If your the kind of person who can part with $1000 for a phone, jump on this. No regrets.

    Not for Pandora

    • Written by from Muskego

If you plan on using this with Pandora, forget it. It just shuts off after 30 minutes of play time.

The unit died completely after 7 days so i returned it and got my money back. Looking for a new speaker system.

unreal quality sound, good things can come in small packages .

    • Written by from clear mountain

Well where do i start, the sound is full bodied at any level as a little background fill or as a serious full blooded sound unit , the system is simple to transport, the remote adds a touch of class when altering the volume levels which can also be adjusted on the side of the unit and seems to work on some simple static touch system but not while your other hand is grounded or placed on the unit. This is one of the best i have tried . Ended up with the rechargable model , slightly dearer than the mains dependant but no regrets.Could only be improved by adding an fm reciever and usb port.

I own a Bose Sounddock, most probably the best thing I've bought. It also came in handy for my wedding. The sound is fantastic.

Very clear, loud and perfect for any event.

    EXCELLENT!!! THANK YOU BOSE!!!

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Excellent sound, bass, crispness, sleek look, space saving and includes a remote. Although I purchased mine from Target for $269, the price is questionable and really needs an overhaul. At a price point of $199.99, I think everyone could and would make this purchase. Even if the price stayed at $269.00 and the system had a AM/FM radio and included a better remote for the playlists, I would have gotten another. I can not give it a 5 star rating due to the price, but this system definitely sounds and looks great...You will not have buyers remorse with this purchase :-)

BOSE sound and Apple service 5 star but 1 niggle

    • Written by from Exeter

I agree with so many other reviews-the sound is amazingly good for such a small set up. The design is good and Apple delivered 23.5 hours after online purchase!! My only niggle is the remote does NOT change playlists- I think it reads made up playlists as blanks or something-For the quality of sound I can live with this as it sits close to me but it makes the remote of limited value which is a shame at this price.
