    iPad mini cover

    • Written by from newcastle

The cover doesn't protect the back of the iPad. I like the cover that was made for the first iPad, even after 3years my first generation iPad still looks new because of the style of the cover.

    Useless

    • Written by from London

I have the smart cover for the iPad and mostly love it but the smart cover for the iPad mini is completely useless. Due to the size of the mini and only having 3 panels in the cover (4 on iPad) it does not hold together well and is always collapsing. The hinge has some flex in it so slides around a lot, if I were to keep this I'd be inclined to get some kind of elastic band to hold the whole thing together. I've decided instead to go with an origami case from another manufacturer and find it so much better!

    Works perfectly

This is the best case I've gotten for my ipad mini. It cleans the screen, works fine, and protects it very well. It even is easily cleanable if I gt anything on it.

    Love this case

Tried every kind from bargain ultra slim PU covers (they crack) to fancy leather upscale book types. (Too heavy). Now that I'm through the gamete, what am I back to? Apple Smart Cover. It's really all and everything you need guys. It may be pricy but I've spent more money trying out all the different types. All I'd recommend in addition, is an envelope zipper pouch for travel if its going to be bouncing around in a bag and a skin for the back if you're really paranoid about scratches. (I don't cover the back and it's still scratch free). Stays on, flips over to hold and warm your hand while reading, stands fine in both modes. Doesn't come off unless you take it off. Only problem is I wish there were more "grown up" colors.

    Smart Cover

    • Written by from Spalding

The Smart Cover aligns perfectly and is very lightweight. It also has a handy non-slip surface, which is handy if you are carrying things on top of it. However, when folded back as a stand it sometimes collapses and the design of it does tilt the IPad backwards, which is not always great for aligning yourself with the camera for Skype calls. Also, be careful not to hold your IPad by the folded cover, as it does pull away and your IPad crashes to the floor!

    Nice cover, terrible stand

    • Written by from Windermere

I really wanted to keep my iPad mini slim, and chose the Smart Cover instead of a bulky case/stand.

As a cover, it works well. I have not experienced the "weak magnet" issue some users are reporting; but as a stand, it's awful.

It slides around on any smooth surface (and yes, I'm folding it properly) and if you make any move toward the device at all - to adjust the volume or touch the screen, for instance - the iPad tips over and the stand collapses. I can't even use it on my nightstand as an alarm clock, as touching the screen to silence the alarm causes it to fall over.

I tossed the box and receipt (something I never do, but I've come to trust Apple...) before trying it out as a stand. I wish I hadn't - I would have returned it by now.

The first Apple product in which I have been truly disappointed.

    Keep looking

Looks nice and iPad stays lightweight and thin but the side magnet doesn't hold when you tip the pad. Also no protection on the back allows for scratching when you place it in your purse/bag etc. I will look for something else.

    Disappointing ...

The magnetic side strip stays in place, but the top magnet is useless offering no protection to the device.

    Poor design by Apple...

    Doesn't work well at all

    • Written by from Reigate

Nowhere as good as iPad cover. Folds in wrong places, doesn't hold iPad mini up for tv viewing, far to low an angle for typing. A complete waste of money

    Worthless Ripoff

    • Written by from West Hills

Save your money and buy a case with a cover. The smart cover is flemsy and will flop everywhere. Barely strong enough to hold the ipad up, and forget about typing on it. Would be better off putting my ipad mini in a sock.

Does the job but only just

    • Written by from London

I chose this because I used a smart cover on my old iPad 2 and really liked it. This works very similarly but there are a few key differences worth bearing in mind:

    - It is far more slippery than the full-size smart cover. If you place your hand on it, you can slide it about all over the screen. When it is folded behind the iPad, it also slips about all over the place. This is I think because there are fewer and/or weaker magnets holding it in place.
    - The cover has come off quite a few times when opening/closing it accidentally in an awkward angle.
    - The light grey one I have has become VERY dirty very quickly and faint shapes of the magnets inside it have all become visible on the surface. I don't really mind because I'd rather the case got dirty than the iPad, but bear in mind it will look mucky quite quickly.
    - When in landscape mode and folded into the triangle, the angle is very low and due to the way it now folds, it tends to fall flat much easier than before. It doesn't seem as sturdy.

Basically, it does the job and if you just want a simple cover to protect the screen then this is perfect, but it is not as good as the full-sized one and is much flimsier.

    Not Stable.

    • Written by from Mesa

This smart cover tends to fall off and dose not work well with a 3 fold mechanism. Also for the same price as the full size one you would think it would make up for something. I would like to see in the future a 4 fold iPad mini smart case.

    Not worth the $

    • Written by from New York

Pretty disapointed with this cover. It is just a screen protector that doubles as a stand. While using as a stand, it is unstable. For protection, you are better off buying a full wrap around case. I would have returned it, but I bought it right before traveling and needed something to protect the screen while in my brief case.

Is the cover any good - yes, of course it is!

    • Written by from Islington

Thought I would add my view as the chap below is very negative and possibly has a defective product.

The cover is designed to protect the screen when not in use and to act as a stand, it is not a case and should not be bought if protection from drops is needed; or if you plan on chucking your iPad mini into your bag with your rugby kit. However it is perfect for handbags, satchels etc.

The cover attaches by magnets and self aligns so no fidgetting to get it right. When you close the cover it turns the iPad mini off, when you peel the cover open, it turns the iPad mini on - same as the full size iPad cover.

The iPad mini cover does differ slightly from the full size iPad equivalent in that there is one less 'fold'. This does make the cover, when using it as a stand, a little less firm however mine works fine and the magnets in the cover keep it in shape.

I have taken one star off for the high cost but then let's face it... it's an Apple product and it will always be a premium cost item.

Would I buy again? Yes, I have bought two, one for me and my dad.

    Don't get this cover

    • Written by from Valley Stream

I didn't know the cover was differeent from the case. This cover to a waste. I paid $39 for it. Now I have to buy a case. Because the cover offers little protection when you drop your iPad mini, also it doesn't lay perfectly straight and the cover falls off if you try to lift the device by the cover.

With my iPad original, the case was great and I thought I was buying the same thing here, but, my own fault for trusting.

    Don't buy it.

    Damaged my I pad

    • Written by from Church Lawton

The very cover that is supposed to protect the ipad actually damages it. Where the magnetic hinge attaches to the ipad it has caused the aluminium to scuff!

    Cover keeps coming off

    • Written by from Concord

I wish they made it so that the cover wouldn't keep coming off. It only attaches via a magnet so more often than not, when you're moving your ipad or trying to fold the cover to prop it up, it just comes off. Kind of disappointing for a $40 product. On the plus side, it does keep your mini light and thin and the "smart" idea is innovative.

    OVER PRICED RUBBISH

    • Written by from LONDON

I normally love apple products, but this should not be on sale under the apple brand. It is total rubbish. it falls over, it falls off, it only protects the screen, it's cheap material and costs way way too much for what it is. I would seriously not reccommend it, and suggest buying something else from somewhere else.

I dont write many reviews, but just had to say how bad this is.
