    Works with Audi MMI

    • Written by from Jersey City

Bought this to bring my '10 Audi Q5 into the modern era and work with my new iPhone 6, and it works perfectly. $40 is way too much for what it is (minus one star), but it's cheaper than the $90 Audi charges for a Lightning MMI cable. I'm able to browse and control all downloaded music on my phone, and also control (play/pause/skip) apps like Songza and Pandora.

    Not worth it.

    • Written by from Bangkapi

I have a few accessories that I use with my Ipad2 (64GB). When I bought a new iPad Mini2 (64GB) I bought the 30 pin to lightning adapter. It did not work. I plug it in to the iPad Mini 2 and it would give me an error message: "This accessory is not supported by this iPad." Tried it with an IPhone 5, and iPhone 5C with same IOS version and it worked fine. I thought it might be because of the lightning connector in the iPad Mini, but other lightning accessory works fine with the iPad Mini. Go figure. There were no support info from the Apple support web.

How stupid is this Apple! This cable stinks!

    • Written by from Severn

I Fully expected purchasing this cable and having it FIT my LifeProof case.
Most cables do not fit *except* the accessory cable that comes with the iPhone 6/6+.
I *expected* all Apple Lightning connectors to be *THE SAME*.

    But Noooooo! Not this one.

This cable seems to be just enough larger that it does not fit the LifeProof charge port

    Again....how stupid is this!

No rating except that I *must* give it at least one star to post this.

Don't bother with a lifeproof case

    • Written by from Collingswood

I have the same problem as many other users. It does not fit the lifeproof case for my iPhone 6. They should have made the lightning end the same size as the regular charging cables that come with the phone.

Does not work with iPhone 6 Lifeproof case.

    • Written by from Skiatook

I recently purchased this product & was disappointed to find that the lightening end of the adapter was just fatter than the lightening end of the charging cable that came with my iPhone 6. It was too fat to fit through my Lifeproof case & therefore I had to return it. I ended up purchasing another lightening cable & thankfully it was the same exact cable as the one that came with my phone. I really don't understand why they would make the adapter different than the cable that comes with the phones, unless the iPhone 5/5S charging cables are wider than the iPhone 6 charging cables... I will know if my husband can ever find the charging cable that came with his iPhone 5S.

Does audio and recharges but too big for Lifeproof fre

    • Written by from Manchester

Bought the official Apple product as it's the only one I can find that charges and does audio (without the addition of an audio jack) but naively expected the lightning end to be the same size as that on the lead supplied with the iPhone - which you can use with a Lifeproof fre case for iPhone 6. Needless to say the connector housing is a lot bigger and doesn't fit through the case! Boo!! Since it does however work for charging and audio (at least it does on my Philips dock), rather than return it I've sanded it down so it does fit through the case. Looks a mess because I had to go all the way through the nice shiny plastic but at least it still works.

Why is the Lightning connector on this cable nearly TWICE the size of every other lightning cable? Easy... POOR DESIGN!

This OVER-SIZED lightning connector will not fit on many cases/bumpers or other products (even products sold on this website!). It makes no sense for the lightning connector to be so HUGE, especially when it's completely unnecessary. For $40 ($45 in-store), your "connector" should be able to perform it's most basic function... CONNECTING!

The only real option I've seen people do is to file the UNNECESSARY plastic down a bit, but then you run into the problem of voiding the warranty (despite having ZERO effect on the actual internals). Such a shame.

    Larger than stock charger

    • Written by from San Diego

Annoying that apple wouldn't keep the housing the same size as the stock charger - this one won't fit most cases.

    Great as an extension

    • Written by from Phoenixville

I use this to extend an original 30 pin charging cable from my iPod 6th generation nano. I use it for both my iPhone 6 and iPad mini 2. It gives me a little more reach and lets me save my lightning cables as backups since they are apparently prone to breaking. When I need to charge my nano I just remove the adapter. One chord for all 3 devices makes it convenient for me.

Apple - Strategize your social and ethical responsibilities appropriately

    • Written by from St. Cloud

I bought the Apple iphone 6 with the $80.00 LifeProof fre case. I wanted to use my Bose speaker system but the stem is too short to fit in the iphone unless I remove the case every time I want to use the speakers. I chose to keep the adapter since there is no other solutions that I could find out there. I spent $200.00 on my speaker a little over a year ago and can't justify trashing that. This adapter is way overpriced for the 5 inch stiff cord you receive. Apple, you need to be more inventive when sitting in your board room planning your products and determining how to sustain customer service. Not to mention all the adapters and products that are being thrown in the trash because they are useless. You need to look at your social and ethical responsibilities.

charger cable stopped working after 1 year

    • Written by from Edison

Charger cable is not a good quality, considering the fact the apple products last long (not break within an year). My husband still uses iphone 4, and that cable is still good even after 3 years of usage... Apple should improve iPhone 5 charger cable quality. New charger cable costs so high, seriously!!! 40$, thats not fair for customer like me whose previous cable stopped working with in an year, how do i trust or how can i be sure that new cable quality is good enough!!!! Apple should either improve quality or reduce the price.

    Pioneer AVH-P3400BH Car DVD Receiver

    • Written by from Montgomery

This Apple cable connected my iPhone 6 to the Pioneer Cable CD-IU51V, designed to connect iPhone 4/4S to this Pioneer Car DVD Receiver. This cable has a 30 pin connector on one end, and both a USB and a RCA earplug mini pin on the other. Result-This Pioneer Car DVD Receiver controls audio on the iPhone 6, shows song title, artist, album information, and album artwork just as is done for my iPhone 4. I do not have any video on either my iPhone 4 or 6, so I cannot comment. But, other Apple reviews states this cable will not show video. Four stars selected due to cable price.

Not compatible with some phone cases, despite initial appearances

    • Written by from Oakville

This would be an ideal product if the designers had thought to make the casing around the lightning cable end of the cable the same size as the casing around the lightning to USB cable, rather than bigger. Case manufacturers are designing their products to fit the lightning cable, and not the lightning to 30-pin adapter, so my nice new case is not compatible with the cable. There is no warning about the different size of the adapters on Apple's product description. So much for Apple design innovation!

Works great but first cable was faulty

    • Written by from Auckland

I bought this adapter cable to connect my iPhone 6 to my car's iPod interface and it works great - outputs music, Spotify and even turn-by-turn Google map navigation over the cars' speakers. But this was not before a whole lot of frustration! The first cable I bought turned out to be faulty. I tried it in my car, home theatre, alarm dock and computer and could only get a "device not supported" error message. I wasn't sure if the adapter simply couldn't do what I wanted, or if my devices were too old and incompatible. It was only after getting a replacement cable which worked flawlessly that I knew for sure the first one was faulty. I see others have had similar problems and expect, at this expensive price, Apple would test their cables before distributing them. If you have problems make sure to get a replacement before writing the adapter option off altogether.

    Cable does not work

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

I used the 30 pin to lightning adapter for 2 years, and it finally died after every day use, so I decided to get the cable instead, as it offered more flexibility in terms of what case I could use on my iPhone. I used the cable (and the adapter) in my car. I had no issues with the adapter, but the cable would only work about 25% of the time. My music would just stop playing randomly and I would have to disconnect to the cable entirely and reconnect everything to get it to work again. Other times it would not recognize my device at all and then i'd just get an error message. At first i thought maybe it was a bad cable, so i exchanged it for another, but the same thing kept happening.
