Apple, you are better than this

    • Written by from Bedford

This product is terrible. Straight up terrible. Cable after cable stops working for no good reason. Seriously hard to believe that the most advanced technology corporation in the world cannot do better than this.

I love my Iphone 5, but I have just about had it with the charging cable. I had a 3GS for years and NEVER had to replace a cable. Now I am on my 4th IPhone 5 cable and it is about to go. Please tell me if there is a solution to this situation...

    Breaks all the time

    • Written by from Asheville

This is honestly the worst charger I have ever had. I've had my iphone for 6 months and am already on my 3rd replacement charger. The problem? A bubble forms at the base of the cable, which is the connection fraying inside from rotation. You would think that for all of Apples amazing technology, they could at least make a durable, reliable charger. So frustrating.

    This charger is HORRIBLE!

    • Written by from Alpharetta

I have purchased 3 of these chargers ($60) and they all broke very soon. I take very, VERY good care of these chargers and they break for NO REASON. One of them (My first one) broke in 6 weeks.... 6 WEEKS! I didn't do anything, but nonetheless, your charger's cables snapped from the inside. Another one broke within a DAY of me buying it.... It just didn't work. Apple, you better make these chargers better, because I'm not buying another one every time one of your chargers breaks on me. Your products are the worst, I'm gonna get an Android the next time this happens.

    Bad quality

    • Written by from Odense

Unfortunately it is impossible giving less than 1 star, but the cables that Apple produce don't deserve a single star. I buy new iPhone and iPad every time they come out and have bought numerous cables through the Apple Store and almost all of them start to break. I am always careful with my things and always avoid bending the cables to sharply, but still they begin breaking relative fast. The rubber seems like getting very brittle. How can a company that focuses so much on quality live with themselves, knowingly delivering inferior quality cables. They should be ashamed of themselves especially considering the price of the cables.

    BAD TRAP

    • Written by from Auckland

After apple updated the software to not allow third party cables, I had to invest in an actual (expensive) apple cable. It's only worked for a couple months!! And I now have to purchase another one. Dumb thing is, is that I have to invest another $30 for a cable that'll probably do the same despite being well looked after. This whole charger stress (and the SHORT battery life seriously makes me want to switch to samsung. If you're going to make your chargers so bad then at least let us use the cheap third party chargers on them which actually last longer!!I refuse to let $30 every few months just to charge my phone be an ongoing issue

    Cheaply made and overpriced

My daughter's iPod lightning cable broke after about a year. For ~$20 a pop, I expected these to be quality cables. I don't care if the cable has 30 pins or is small like the lightning - I just want the phone/iPod to charge reliably (which obviously means the cable can't break on a regular basis). Having a $20 cable go out every year (or more often, judging from the other reviewers) is not acceptable.

I wish i could of rated this with no stars....
okay seriously apple why haven't you stepped up your game on the design on these lightening cables. they're poorly designed. I expect more from your brand. I've gone through 4 lightening USB cables in the past year. I just bought one 2 months ago and today it crapped out on me! Like why can't you come up with a better design where the wires dont get all messed up and stop working. its not "USER DAMAGE" its on your end of the manufacturer and design team thats got problems. I dont think ill be wasting my money anymore on your cables. i think ill buy a Belkin. i heard they're more dependable!

LOVE all your other products except your Lightning Cables. And it looks like im not the only one who thinks so. So fix it!

Great for Apple, not so great for the customer. No matter how gently I treat this cable I still only get about 5-6 months out of it before it's frayed at both ends and won't charge. The cables either need to be revamped or lowered in price because the $19 and tax isn't worth it. I'd love to say save your money and get a knockoff, but you risk damaging your phone with an unauthorized charger. Please fix this. I shouldn't have to buy a new charger... ever, unless I just want an extra!

    Expensive poor quality cable

    • Written by from Gainsborough

The cable came new with my phone which I bought directly from Apple, within a couple a months the first cable broke. I'm now on my third cable, I cannot believe how rubbish and poor quality these cables are and what a rip off! I'm a student and having to pay £15 each time for a poor quality cable that breaks by no fault of my own is outrageous!

Worst cable I've used in my life

    • Written by from Wantagh

I had an LG phone for 3 or 4 years prior to getting an iPhone. The cable I had with that phone lasted the entire time. Now that I have an iPhone, I've had to use these terrible cables that break ALL THE TIME. I must go through one every two months. These things are built so horribly, even the most gentle, responsible owners will break them. Horrible. And it's a shame that there's no way to avoid it. I have never encountered a good lightning cable, Apple brand or not. I wish they would make these better.

Not worth to keep buing over and over.

    • Written by from Akron

I've had a lot of iPhones over the years and I never had a problem. Before iPhones, I had iPods, again no issues with the cables. With my iPhone 5, and the lightning cable, it went ok till just about a year after purchase, I took notice one day the cord was being touchy, moved the phone it would make an unplugged and plugged in sound. I set it down to to charge while driving. The cable melted and caught on fire in my ambulance while driving. I took it to the Apple Store, they said "it's user damage". There are A LOT of reports of these cords being bad, but they didn't want to hear it. I contacted Apple Corporate and finally got a replacement cord. This past Christmas I got an iPad mini with retina display. The cord is never bent, and stays in the same place. Last night, sure enough the cable doesn't want to work.

I think I'll buy another brand name lightning cable because this is ridiculous.

15 pound a month to charge your iPhone

    • Written by from Swindon

Had my iPhone less than 4 weeks, on my 2nd lightning cable now... This cable is actually worse than the "L" connector power adaptor for my MacBook. Unfortunately I cannot recommend an acceptable replacement as I haven't found one yet. but when I do I will be using it instead.

Apple Accessories were pioneered with an 18 month expected product life cycle, this particular accessory appears to have an 18 hour life cycle.

    way too short

    • Written by from Norman

Apple claims to create human centered designs but they continue to offer ridiculously short charger cables, that may work while you set aside the device while you charge it, but will not work if you want to work on the device while you are charging it. Apple, where is the human center in this design? Offer charging cables that are 6 feet or 9 feet long.

    Forever breaking!

    • Written by from Portland

I have gone through 3 cords in the last 8 months! Now my phones on 7% and I can't charge it until tomorrow when I can get a cheaper one, since they seem to last longer! The wires always break!!! You should work on improving the design of where the cord meets the plug in bit as the wires always break.

3 cables, going to be 4 soon in just over a year.

Great product! Just the absolute best if you love dumping money on subpar cables.

I will be looking at alternatives when my contract is up.
