    bad quality. cable sheath un-peels

    • Written by from London

i thought it was just me, but many people have the same problem. the cable has no sheath any more. i have to cover it up with insulation tape. it looks so bad, i am embarrassed to take it out in public.

it still works, so i don't have to spend 65 pounds on a new one.

    Same experience!! Terrible!

    • Written by from KENNEBUNK

Dead, after 8 months. I can get it to work 10% of the time by "playing" with it, but most of the time it's not worth the trouble! This is a POS like I didn't know Apple was capable of.

    Broken Already!!!

    • Written by from Carlsbad

After a year and a half of gentle use, my MagSafe 2 adapter has already stopped working! What has been happening to Apple lately? The reason we all pay more money for Apple stuff is because it works, and now Apple products aren't really working that well anymore, not good. I still love me my Apple devices but this is a serious let down.

I had my mac for 3 years and every single year I have to buy a new Adapter it's like there is a ticking time bomb on it. I was the most careful person with the charger yet it felt apart today. well thanks apple now I regret anything nice I told about you and everyone I said should choose mac over other computers I am sorry.

    • Written by from Terre haute

I'm very careful with all of my gadgetry, and the MagSafe 2 for my 11 inch MacBook Air broke after just over a year of use. No serious amount of stress, and no perceivable damage, just a poorly constructed charger. This wouldn't be so infuriating if it were also reasonably priced. VERY disappointed with Apple for this one.

Unfortunately in less than 6 months I have to spend again £65 for an other adapter as it has broken due to overheating and melting of the outer cable exposing the inner wire!!! I am very disappointed in product and cost as its only an adapter!!

Overall, ever since I have had my computer, I have had no issues with this charger. I honestly can say that it's another A+ for Apple.

    In defense of the magnet

    • Written by from Raleigh

I was surprised to see the level of vitriol directed at Apple because of the design of the new MagSafe 2 connector. You would think Apple ran off with some of theses reviewers' children or something. My own experience with this power adapter on a new MBA: I agree the L design might be preferable because it is more low-profile and is less likely to get bumped. On the other hand, I expected a weak magnet based on the angry reviews. The magnet is actually quite strong as you discover when you try pulling it off directly. In fact, it seems much stronger than the L connector I had on my old MBP. Now, if you tilt it up or down, it does come off fairly easily as you are sort of leveraging it off. But that is probably a good thing as it will save your lightweight MBA from getting pulled off a table. So, it seems to be a good compromise. It certainly does not fall out the way some are describing. Maybe Apple strengthened the magnet in the last year? I don't know, but it seems strong enough. Since the battery on the new MBA lasts a long time, I never have a need to use it while plugged in. It gets recharged overnight. I mean, the whole point of using a laptop is portability, so I try to time the charging so that I don't need to have it plugged in when I'm actually using it. But, the adapter isn't as horrible as people are making it out to be. Now, I do wish it wasn't as expensive as it is...

    Just Stopped Working

    • Written by from Casula

I've had this for a little over a year and it was absolutely fine and worked perfectly. Until yesterday when it just didn't charge. I did nothing to it, I put no stress or strain on it and yet it refused to work. I had no idea what was wrong and the Genius Bar at my Apple store was useless.

What is wrong with apple. NOT HAPPY!!! At least im not the only one

    • Written by from Miami

I didn't think that there were so so so may bad reviews on this product. Why aren't the doing anything about it.
This is cheap and weak Apple, what is happening to the quality of your products. Stop bring in iphone 6,7,8,9,10 and worry about bettering other products that your already have.
I remember when it wasn't only about the quantity apple, the quality of your products are going to the gutter. All the care about is selling.

Mine broke and I've had the computer for like 1 month. This is the worst!!!! I have to pay $79.00 for a new one. Pretty much obligated given that I need my computer.

Poor Design - It Will Break Soon

    • Written by from London

The main reason why I got a MacBook Air was because of its weight and the easiness to carry it around. As Jennifer mentioned below: The coating on my cable nearest the connector (perhaps because of its 90 degree projection?) got stressed and split. Now I need to buy a new one as the internal wiring is exposed. This has never happened with any Apple cable before, and I am a long-term user.

    flimsy cables are a scam

    • Written by from PRESTON

these cables under normal use break very easily. obviously designed to fail so apple can sell you a new one for $99! If the thinner cable was also detachable and replaceable from the adapter, this would not be so much of an issue. But when buying an expensive laptop surely a robust cable could be included. I recommend preemptively taping the thinner cable with electrical tape to prevent the cable from bending at acute angles. Note that Apple will not replace a broken cable from "accidental breakage" only if the cable itself is faulty. I will be repairing mine or buying a 3rd party replacement. No sale apple.

I didn't think it was possible, but the power adapter for the MacBook Air is worse than the adapter for the MacBook Pro. Adding insult to injury, the battery life on the MacBook is so short, you're constantly using the adapter, and the smaller magnetic connector constantly disconnects. It's a badly designed product that should be recalled!

How can Apple be so STUPID???

    • Written by from Westerville

The Magsafe 1 adapter was great which I used on my 2011 MacBook Air. It never came off, I could use it on my lap, it never got in the way, it was just PERFECT and I just loved my MBA! But I guess some engineers from Hewlitt Packard decided to infiltrate the Apple Corporation with intent to infuriate customers, give them bad experiences with Apple products, and get them to cuss Apple. And they came up with the Magsafe 2 Adapter and succeeded at all three goals! This adapter cannot be used on your lap without it coming off every few minutes. I've been looking for solutions but there are not even any third party solutions, which Apple has been notorious for since their days of almost going bankrupt, but they still haven't learned. So, I think I will try some tape, or maybe some glue to keep it connected. Hey Apple, ever heard the phrase "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT??? Thanks a lot, Apple.

    Please redesign!

    • Written by from Fleetwood

Poor design and poor quality. 3rd charger ordered for MacBook Air. Cord that attaches to computer is way too thin and wires break too easily. Then you can't purchase just that half of the charger, you must buy both halves of the cord at $79.00. I love Apple, but this is a terrible product that costs too much for how poorly it is made! Really deserves zero stars.

    Broke Already

    • Written by from Harlow

Got the Macbook Air as a birthday gift just over a week ago used the charger once and tried to use it again the next day and wouldn't charge. I teated it with total care: no drops, bumps, too hot, too cold. yet, it still broke. For £1000 Apple Product I wouldn't expect this to happen; especially since it came from the apple shop even my iPhone charger lasted longer than this one. Apple defiantly need to sort this out and soon.
