Good Value - Works as Advertised

    • Written by from Indio

If you don't have a cover that protects the screen, thin sides and back of your iPad, this is for you. I had a smart cover only, dropped the iPad and broke the screen.

This is much better, as it cushions any fall, no matter what part of the iPad hits the hard object. As to fit, it is perfectly snug on my Third Generation - "The New iPad". When you install it, just make sure all four sides of your screen are slightly covered at the edges. That will secure it. You may have to bend the sides of the cover down a bit while you are inserting your iPad, but you will see that it "snaps" into place. There is no looseness as it is a tight fit.

There are no negatives - it is a good product.

    Finally!

    • Written by from Randwick

I have been so jealous of my aunt's iPad Mini with it's Smart Case but haven't been able to buy one for my iPad 2nd Gen. Finally apple releases a compatible option! Really effective case, foolproof protection from scratches. I don't know how effective it'd be if I dropped my iPad but I don't believe it's intended for shock absorption-style protection.

Great case, I only wish it came in more colours!

Fantastic protection, but doesn't last forever

    • Written by from Americus

We have kept this cover on our ipad for nearly 2 years. It is finally worn out - the rubber sides have split and it no longer stays on the ipad. It has been falling apart for about 3 months now. That's not bad for the only type of case or cover we've ever bothered with. It's held up to being shoved into brief cases, back packs, purses, and knitting bags. We are contemplating the purchase of another one because we like it so much. I only took one star off - because it only survived for 1.5 years.

    One word: terrible

    • Written by from Arlington

The case do not fits properly, do not stand easily (fall all the time). The borders hurt your hand when you hold for long.
Do not spend your money with this product (that doesn't deserve the apple logo)

    Very poor quality - avoid!

    • Written by from Montrose

I purchased my first case with my iPad 4 just over a year ago. Never a perfect fit, within a couple of months it stretched enough that the iPad would occasionally pop out of the case. I returned to the Apple Store where I bought both items and they replaced the case without question. Now, some eight months later, the seam along the bottom edge of my second case has split open.

I am quite frankly appalled that such a product is sold by Apple who have a reputation for building quality products. I intend to return to the store again to complain about this.

    Loved this Case, but....

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I bought the case almost exactly a year ago. It fit perfectly, and was very convenient for carrying the iPad to work and using it in meetings. Unfortunately, after one year of normal use, the case has fallen apart. The frame has torn away from the body of the case and consequently, the iPad slips out. This is not an inexpensive case, so I had hoped to use it for more than a year. I haven't decided whether to buy another one or try something else. If you decide to purchase this case, just be careful with it.

    could be better

    • Written by from westfield

the case fits the ipad pretty good.. it could be a little tighter though. the problem I have with the case is that it started coming apart at the seams within 3 months. as another person put it on here, I'm having a hard time believing apple would put their name and logo on this case. it's clearly substandard quality.. the one thing I will say is that I love the way the case looks and feels, but could be way better especially considering what I paid for it.

Not made for the long haul

    • Written by from Melbourne

Right out of the box this is a flimsy case and it just gets worse as time goes on. Mine is just a little over a year old and the seams have come completely apart. My iPad doesn't even see regular daily usage.

    iPad Smart Case falling apart

    • Written by from Sioux Falls

I've had the smart case for about 2 years. About 6 months ago the seam started splitting apart. Now it is apart on two and a half sides. BAD product quality. I know it wouldn't last for ever but using glue? Why not stitched? $50 is a lot to pay for something that only lasts 18 months on a $1000 iPad purchase! Shame Apple!

Design Flaw: Very uncomfortable to hold - edges too SHARP!

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

If you're like me and you like to kick back on the bed or couch and surf the web or read emails, this product will hurt your hands. The edges are too sharp. Apple, you need to round the edges of this. I spend $55 on this and I want my money back! Let me buy it again once you repair this design flaw!

    Uncomfortable and didn't last

    • Written by from Chicago

Initially the case is slick, has a good fit and protects the iPad . After just a year of moderate use the case split open, will not hold the iPad and does not prop up the device. It was very uncomfortable to hold from the start with razor sharp edges all the way around the perimeter. I don't want to research the hundreds of cases to find one that is function able and comfortable. I trusted Apple to do that. A little disappointing.

    Terrible, don't buy!

    • Written by from Aguada

This product won't last. The concept is great, but unfortunately the products braks after use putting your iPad at risk. The sides of the case are glued to the frame the goes around the iPad and connects to the top cover. After use, the sides separate and the iPad can slip between this space. We bought three (3) of these Apple Smart Cases at my home, and all three of them have the issue. Do not recommend.

    This case saved my iPad

    • Written by from Oakley

This case is amazing. I left my iPad on the top of my car and drove off. When I realized it was gone I went back to find it and found it on the side of the road. It had fallen off when I was going 50 mph. The case is ripped on all corners and scratches on the front and back of the cover. I can tell it took a few hard hits as it hit the ground. The amazing thing is that my iPad still works perfectly. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I now need a new case and I will get nothing else but the smart case for my iPad. I never leave reviews but could not keep quiet on this one. Thanks Apple for making such a great product!

    Expensive and NOT durable

    • Written by from Topanga

For the price of this thing I expected it to not fall apart at the seams within 18 months of at home use. My iPad actually fell out of the case through the split in the seem and smashed the corner of the screen. I am very disappointed in this overpriced product .

    not so Smart case

    • Written by from LEEK

Like others I bought the case with the ipad 3 as I thought the genuine all round case would be of higher quality than it has turned out to be. Mine has split at the to and bottom, the ipad is now not secure so I will go back to using a £3 one that I bought for my ipad 2 a year before that. It would be a nice gesture of apple to offer a discount or a trade in for us, but I'm sure this will not be seen as necessary. On a more positive note the current genuine leather case I have on my iPad Air is lasting very well as it is almost a year old now and has no sign of wear, it was flippin' expensive though for a case.

CASE SPLITS AT SEAM - AVOID

    • Written by from Exeter

I am a dedicated Mac fan because of the excellent design and build quality. Sadly this case fails. It has split apart along the seam that joins the back to the front retaining edge. And this is not due to the iPad being removed all the time. It has been simply left in place. This issue has been noted by several other reviewers. Maybe the latest Air case is better, but the previous model is best avoided. Check the Air case reviews in a few months and this should reveal if the problem has been addressed. But for now - best look elsewhere.

    Disappointing

    • Written by from HEMEL HEMPSTEAD

Put up with this case for about a year before I replaced it. The iPad 4 is very loose in the case and often popped out at the corner. The bonding between the back and the front gave out and gradually split apart.
Really disappointed especially from a company who have always had a reputation on good quality

    Not great

    • Written by from London

I can't recommend this case. It's not comfortable to hold. The "stand" is unstable. It gets dirty very quickly and mine allowed grit to get inside and marked the back of my iPad. Then it fell part after 3 months.
    Look elsewhere.

    Totally rubbish

    • Written by from birmingham

I have this case in red and it's totally rubbish, it has literally fallen apart and I've not had it that long. I would definitely not recommend anyone to buy this product. It is a total waste of money. I would have posted pictures of how it has fallen apart but there is no option to attach photos.

better than the ipad air's smart case

The reason why I think that is because it overlaps so it aint as easy to tumble And it's Polyurethane instead of leather
