    Bittersweet.

    • Written by from Plano

iPad User: "The one thing I don't like is that my iPad now has one little tiny spot on the side where the anodized finish has worn away, leaving shiny aluminum. This is from the Smart Cover hinge." That is my ONLY issue with the smart cover. I've had to scrub vigorously with computer screen wipes to clean off the "black" marks left from the hinges. At this point, there is still a bit left that I am unable to remove. The smart cover protects and locks my screen just fine, but not without marking up the edge of the iPad body.

    Best thing for an iPad

    • Written by from Syosset

I am on my second one since I got my iPad 2 since I got my iPad when it first came out, and I love it I have had other cases and they don't even compare to the Smart Cover. My only complaint is that after a year of use everyday for school and just about everything else the magnets in the hinge get weak and it needs to be replaced, but well worth it.

Hinge points failed after 15 months

    • Written by from Brisbane

After about 15 months or normal use, the fabric next to hinge points started to "sag"/go soft allowing the cover to slide along the metal hinge bar. This caused the cover to not line up properly with the ipad, leaving edges of ipad unprotected. I returned product to Big W as defective (you expect to get more than 15 months out of your ipad so the same should apply to the cover designed to protect it). Otherwise very good cover for those that don't want to wrap their ipad up in a bulk case.

iPad Smart Cover - Polyurethane - Green

    • Written by from Bradenton

The iPad Smart Cover in Green is just ok. I love the bright green. It goes with my black iPad 2 and my white iPad 4. The Green Smart Cover hasn't gotten dirty or ripped and it has been a year since I bought it. I do not like the fact that it scratches the side of my iPad and that I fell on the stairs with my iPad and now there is a huge line of metal down my iPad 2. Just ok.

    Terrible Cover

    • Written by from New York

Bought two of these covers (one for me and one for my partner). We hate them. The cover keeps slipping open and draining the battery. The cover is difficult to fold and use as a stand - either it sits at too low an angle or too straight up and down and falls over. Worst apple product I've ever purchased.

    Great Cover

    • Written by from gwelup

This is a fantastic cover for my iPad. It is a lot more greener than it looks. It acts as a great stand, I'm using it right now. My my Mum's iPad 2 (generation 1) eventually didn't turn on and off since last year (2011), and I'm not sure whether it's the generation 1 that it doesn't support, or if it's the SCREEN PROTECTOR. I'm really not sure. My new iPad works though.

    Must for Travelers!

    • Written by from Wellington

Great! Work really well. I love how its magnetic and water proof. I was going to work by bus and it started raining while I was walking to the bus stop. I was really worried my iPad was ruined, but the cover saved my iPad. Definitely get one if your a traveler.

    Very disappointed, would not recommend

    • Written by from LIVINGSTON

After just a day of use, I'm back to my old cover. I purchased the case in Apple's Black Friday sale as a quick impulse purchase, however I don't think it was worth the money I paid for it,. The overall quality of the cover is pretty poor, and nowhere near up to the standards I would match up from their hardware and other accessories. It's exceptionally uncomfortable to hold, the edges dig into your hand. It also does not "fit" properly, it's as if its 3-4mm taller and wider than it should be, way more than I would think is necessary to allow it to be put on and removed. The screen cover doesn't match up with the other magnets all the time either.

Overall, very disappointed with the product, I won't be buying another Apple case without trying it in one of their retail stores first. I wouldn't recommend this at all, which pains me to say.

    Great cover

    • Written by from Spring City

The Smart Cover seems like a great accessory to me. I can't imagine my iPad without the Smart Cover. It works perfectly and lasts. The one thing I don't like is that my iPad now has one little tiny spot on the side where the anodized finish has worn away, leaving shiny aluminum. This is from the Smart Cover hinge. No big deal, though. The benefits far outweigh the cost of a Smart Cover.

    Hate it. Always falling off!

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

I am so disgusted with how easily this cover comes detached. I can't hold the iPad by this when I'm reading or typing, because my iPad will drop & hit the floor. I won't get one of these for my mini... Will wait for the SmartCASE. Those are excellent! (they completely encase the iPad securely. )

    Good at first

    • Written by from Atlanta

I got the iPad for the Christmas of 2011. It was a great cover at first, but the metallic strip that attaches the Smart Cover to the iPad started to wear after three months. Now, every time I lift the cover it completely pulls off. Also, I use to be able to fold the cover into a triangle and watch a video without having to lay the iPad flat on the table. Now my Smart Cover is basically useless except the fact that it protects my screen.

    Don't buy this

    • Written by from Evesham

I bought this seduced by the advertising and found it lightweight (yes) but also fragile and the magnet is unpredictable. It is less adaptable than it looks and has had to be replaced.
On a foreign holiday my husband dropped my ipad whilst trying to find a wifi connection. He had not realised how tenuous the link between the smart cover and the ipad was. It smashed the screen. Later it had to be returned to an Apple shop who replaced the ipad with another at approx cost £200. The new one wiped much of what I had had previously , and has caused endless problems with e.g Cloud which I cannot access. The smart cover was ultimately a very expensive option.

The generation one smart cover can hardly stand still on desk, it fall down many times and even broke my ipad screen:(
although the design and idea is attractive, hope it will be more stable~

    Love this color

    • Written by from Salem

This product is pretty amazing. I can't believe they could get this to work with magnets. I can only imagine how hard it was to get the magnets on the cover to line up right with the iPad. Great job Apple!

    mostly good

    • Written by from Henderson

ood color stability and good quality, although it is overpriced (but what ipad cover isnt overpriced??)
It is a little difficult to open, dont cut your fingernails all the way down!. Also, for some reason the cover does not seem to bend back as the original cover does for elevated viewing.
In any case, it is a nice case, good quality, apple style. I bought the green and it is a vivid, alive almost lime green. but the blue was too pastel, too baby blue.

    The iPad smart cover

    • Written by from Ramsey

This product may seem a little expensive to some of you but you really need to know what you're buying first so here's a quick run through this product. The fact is, this product isn't just a standard screen cover; it's more than that, it's an official Apple screen cover, this might not seem much to you now but when you really think about the key idea of it being an official product then you know that It's safe and compatible to use with your 2nd or 3rd gen iPad. Also Apple have taken possibility of cosmetic damage (wear and tear) into consideration by adding small plastic type bumpers on the magnetic strips located on the hinge of the cover which prevents the metal on the cover and the iPad from getting to close, rubbing and furthermore scratching your iPad. This cover gently and easily connects its self to your iPad by manually moving the two products towards each other, the magnets located in each product attract and hold each other firmly in place. Once connected the cover can then be used as a two way stand. Another great thing about this cover is that once you close it over your screen it automatically locks your device and then unlocks once you re-open the cover; this is due to another set of magnets located in the front side of the device and on the last segment of the case (furthest away from the hinge) this either creates a type of connection or breaks another to create the lock and unlock function. Finally my favorite part of the iPad smart cover is that once taken away from the iPad you can fold it up to use as a screen cleaner this works amazingly well as it has micro fiber material on the inner side of the cover.

    Product style: 10/10
    Product weight: 10/10
    Product durability: So far 10/10
Money's worth: Absolutely (I'd buy one again but this is so well built I don't think i'll need to)

    Not worth the money

    • Written by from Blackrock

Its a great color and idea but dose not live up to Apple standards. The folding into triangles becomes loose after some use. I also noticed it can leave lines like dust of the folds on the screen. When closed onto the screen it can be hard to open. The edges are sharp.
